Week 1 of 4


Today is the official weigh in day for my Diet Bet, but you still have a few days to join - you can join late, but everyone has to weigh out at the same time. Be sure you are taking measurements and progress pictures, promise you're gonna want them when you start losing motivation - it's great to look back at where you started!!


I've been eating maintenance calories for the last 10ish weeks, 5 of which I wasn't able to workout. Initially I lost about 5 pounds {when I couldn't gym} and now I'm up about 3 pounds from pre surgery. The goal was to try to build muscle by eating enough food to let that happen - you can't build muscle while eating at a calorie deficit. You will gain fat, it's just a given, while I KNOW that it's still REALLY hard mentally. You feel fluffy. Your workouts usually feel great though with all those extra calories! I'm doing a 6 week cut and got my new numbers from Poppy Locks. Bye Bye to all the extra snacks, it's going to be hard the first few days while I adjust to my lower macros. She's promised to listen to me bitch and whine though :)




Oliver has been a very bad boy over the Holidays, he's agreed to do the Diet Bet with me and also the Big D Climb on January 30th. I cleaned out the freezer, pantry, and fridge for the New Year and spent a crap ton of money on groceries. We decided to buy a second fridge for the garage so I'm stocking the freezer extra full of my Trader Joe fav's so I don't have to go very often, it's a 45 minute drive from me. I've gotten a little slack on weighing all the things, so here's to zeroing back in on the basics for #week1of4

  3. If anyone is reading, am I the only one who has a very difficult time with keeping fat intake low? Especially when working up to the high protein...I find a lot of the foods I really like just add up beyond the fat intake I need. Any suggestions? I love my dairy products...however, fat free cottage cheese is literally disgusting, and fat free cheese is just like plastic to me. So, I buy reduced fat dairy items, but 40-ish fat grams is just not a whole lot for 1500-1600 ish calories a day. I used to love the Triple Zero yogurt, but month after month of this, it now turns my stomach. I know I am whining and need to just buckle down...please help if you have suggestions.

    1. I do lots of low fat beef jerky, pre-baked chicken (I add this into various meals throughout the day), egg whites mixed in random things such as oat meal or cream-of-wheat, muscle egg whites... hope this helps!

  5. Back to basics for me too! Joined your dietbet and can't wait to shed this holiday wait (yikes!). I got my macros from Paige originally... how much does PoppyLocks charge for calculating macros? Just curious for when I need to switch it up again. :)

    1. Nope, I love Paige! I just didn't need the one on one coaching anymore and Poppy just does my numbers as needed since we are friends :)
