Pushing Yo-Self.

On Monday's we have Hip Hop and don't get home until 7, dinner needs to be fast and easy. I made this in 15 minutes {the chicken is precooked over the weekend} and it was phenomenal.

500 calories 57c/13f/47p
Spiraled up a sweet potato with my Padero Spiral Vegetable Slicer you could also bake or microwave it. I throw the spirals in a saute pan with some coconut oil, cover with lid and cook for about 6 minutes.
I roasted some grapes in the oven with some grape-seed oil for 15 minutes.
Then I weighed each out on a plate and drizzled with honey and crumbled goat cheese.
Even Oliver loved it, I'll probably make this once a week for a long while :)

This one is not eating very much, he has a molar coming in on the upper back left and it's slow poking through. He and Madison both got chicken with the sweet potato - no toppings.

Then I chased him around the house and wrestled for a bit before bedtime. He love's when you tackle him hahahhaha.

I'm not happy at all with the MFP update, I figured out the best way to quickly see my remaining macros, turning my screen sideways, but you can no longer custom set your macro goals with the hack unless you pay for the upgrade. I think I'll give Macros+ a chance this week, I really don't feel like paying 50 stupid dollars to MFP.

Didn't do my usual run today, so I planned an upper body/HIIT workout with my gym buddies. I worked up a good sweat and my arms are shaking, so much 'fun'. We had a discussion in my Challenge group about pushing yourself, how do you know if you are pushing yourself hard enough?

I can name off the big moments in my journey which has always been preceded with fear and followed with determination. Running, lifting, IIFYM. I was resistant to ALL of these things for a while before I finally broke down and gave them a try, I was full of excuses. For some stupid reason I will say no to new things, then after thinking them over a while, give them a shot. I'm always glad I tried, so many of these experiences have changed me for the better.

Right now I'm not so sure I am pushing myself as hard as I could be, usually I'm the pusher. I need to find something right now to make me wanna do #WERK. I love exercise and it's not that I slack in the gym, but am I doing anything to get me to that next level?? I honestly don't know.

    1. Online fitness accountability group! We have weigh in's, weekend challenges to hold us accountable, partners we check in with... Meg puts a lot of time in trying to help others reach their goals and for that I am very grateful!

  2. Girl...I was on your website all weekend long. Got my macros calculated and did my first ever week of food prep on Sunday. Went ahead and filled in my food for the week on MFP - that should help me stick to it! It was kind of exhausting and intimidating to start this process, but I am LOVING and INSPIRED by your success with macros, so I am giving it a try. Looking forward to some change and to feeling like I am FUELING this body, not just feeding it. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. Keep sharing recipes - and maybe create a recipe page for us (with macro counts).

  4. You are a friggin GENIUS with these dinner ideas. I don't know why but I have thee HARDEST time with simple meals. This one looks amazing and it will be happening this week. I feel like I'm making this way harder than it needs to be. I know it's not easy, but loooord, you make it look like it is. Thanks for all the inspiration!!

  6. I hate the new MFP - I played around with Marcos+, but the database sucks and it's tedious to enter recipes!! No bueno!!! I'm going to give in and pay the $50 :(.

  7. Do you spiral your sweet potato with the skin on it? I'm thinking about getting myself one :)

  8. Have you considered setting your MFP calories to 0 under your goals? Then work up to the daily amount? It shows you how many cals/grams as you go rather than showing your "remaining" cals/grams. I hope that makes sense. This is currently how i'm using MFP.

  9. I'm not happy with the MFP upgrade either! I'm definitely not going to pay for it, that's for dang sure!

  11. MFP on my ipad updated May 1st and still shows goals and remaining macros at the bottom of my diary?? My phone app has always been difficult- had to go into more then nutrition etc... Maybe I got lucky or something??

Also- I know you do not have a hard time hitting your protein but I have struggled and since found P28 breads, wraps and bagels!! 28 grams. They have saved me for sure!! I struggle to eat the whole thing as it is super filling- but it is really soft and almost spongey? Awesome addition to my weeks.
