Confession: When I've been up for at least 2 hours in the middle of the night and I still manage to get to the gym, wash and do my hair, and put a smile on my face before an 9 hour workday, I feel like a bad-ass. It can be hard, some days harder than others, but giving myself a few pats on the back helps! Honestly I don't think men get it, I've gotten to where I handle it all so well that it's expected of me, but I get tired and I do wish I sometimes got to sit down and relax for more than 10 minutes. Every time I do sit down all I can think about it what still needs to be done, Oliver doesn't live with that kind of thought process and he certainly doesn't get why washing and doing hair deserves a back pat!

So sometimes I just congratulate myself on another great day, even before 8am!

Madison is playing indoor for the first time and I was able to make her game Saturday, I should just go ahead and apologize to everyone around me cause I'm over excitable and I yell.... a lot. It's the first time they've played with a goalie and they are also playing in a U7 {she's 5} so the girls are older and faster, but dang if my baby girl wasn't holding her own as goalie! I love soccer, but I make the worst goalie so I was pretty impressed with her.

I got the itch to repaint my bathroom, but decided I REALLY wasn't awesome enough to fit that in so I got my brother to do it. I found the most beautiful color via DecorChick and I loveeeeeeee it so dang much!! I have plans to stencil the wall over the tub, but I spent yesterday trying to get this shimmery gold color to work and it just won't so I painted over and it I'm on to plan B. Hobby Lobby has the cutest black and gold decor right now and I want to do gold accents so I made a trip there Saturday. During Christmas. With both kids AND Oliver. KILLMENOW> never ever again.

I'm using a peacock stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils- it's going to be so darling!

He cracks me up - he can literally be screaming his head off, but if I turn the camera on him he smiles :) I've trained him a little too well!

I had an easy 12 miles on Saturday and it was actually really hard for me to run at our training pace, I wanted to go all out which I hope is a good sign for my race. Sunday I did a full body weight session at the gym and 3 miles on the treadmill, I'm feeling really strong and my body feel s good. My knee isn't hurting, but I have an appointment to get good and KT Taped up before the race. Taper week kinda sucks - holding back is not my strong suit and I'm resting Thursday - Saturday which I know is going to be very hard for me! Gotta look at the big picture though - 26.2 miles!

  1. Thank you so much for being so honest. You look amazing and it helps me see how great you look after having your sweet bald baby. I had my third child 4 months ago and we moved from MN to TX when she was almost 3 weeks old. I haven't found my motivation which is hard to deal with as I bounced back pretty quickly after the other two. I know its possible to get back to where I was, if not better, once I find it.

  2. I get what you're saying, I really do. It's hard to be a mother, wife, and full-time working woman; hell, in a lot of ways, just being a woman in hard! But saying that "washing and doing hair deserves a back pat" is absolutely absurd. Yes, your husband should recognize the effort you put in to still look beautiful, but you are the one who chooses to look the way you do. You CHOOSE a personal style that is very curated, with a perfectly applied full face of makeup and different hairstyles every day. You could just as easily take the more natural route and look just as beautiful, if not more (I'm personally a fan of the more minimalist approach, but to each their own). You also choose to work out for 1.5 (or however many) hours each morning, to counteract your high calorie diet and fuel your running. Again, you can take a more moderate approach to both diet and exercise and see just as good of results. It's your life and I don't mean to preach, but I don't understand how you don't recognize that its your choices that are making you feel so busy. The amount of exercise, grooming, and shopping that you do weekly takes a lot of time, but you're choosing to do that. It doesn't exactly deserve praise. What does deserve praise is being focused on your family and children when you can spend time on them, and for that, kudos!

    1. I never meant to imply that I was forced to do any of it, my point was more that it's in my personality to always be go go go. I absolutely choose the things I do and I get along just fine without Oliver patting my back. But SOMEDAYS a little bit of thank you's can go a long way and today was one of those days - i was up between 12-2 with the baby and I didn't let lack of sleep compromise my day- working out enables me to have a good attitude at work dealing with difficult people so it's not always just about my body. The hair thing was a joke, obviously misunderstood.

    2. Yeah, I get that, you're a very energetic woman. If you derive pleasure from all the things you do, then that's wonderful! I personally choose a different approach to life, and try not to let all my free time go to the "unnecessary" things that litter my to-do list (which I deem to be the things I mentioned above). But we are all different, and you seem like the type of woman that thrives on being busy. My only point was to highlight that fact -- you seem to thrive and do well on being busy, and that's the lifestyle you're choosing. If that works for you, then great! Best to you and yours.

  3. I think alot of moms can completely relate to the fact that we need to pat ourselves on the back everyday! And we make it look so easy and thats why the husbands dont get what the big deal is. Plus doing a full face of makeup and cute hair thats definatly bad @$$ in my book. Have a blessed day!

  4. Babies, blogging, making dinners and meal prep, cleaning the house and a full time teaching job that requires nights and weekends! Men don't get it!!

  5. I. Love. This. Post. Men most definitely don't get it. I have a full time job, school, and two kids. And I still feel like taking care of the kids and housework is expected of me. It would be nice to be recognized for amount of things I do on a daily basis.

  6. Yes a thousand times yet. They just don't get how hard it is or how it feels to have so much pressure on us. You are looking absolutely amazing and I can't even believe your progress. Great work!!!!

  7. great post and I agree, sometimes us girls don't get the credit for ALL we do!!! way to go on all your hard work and training and good luck on the race!!!

  8. Yay! You are a total bad ass and you should be proud of how much you accomplish every day! I can't wait to hear all about your race, I know you are going to KILL IT!!!!
