I'm doing a 4 Week Challenge for the month of October - here's my starting stats. 168 pounds.
I'm testing out how a smaller group will go - so stay tuned for future challenges. If you would like in my original Facebook group leave your email address in a comment and I will add you.
You know those people who quit smoking and become the annoying 'you KNOW how bad that is for you' people? That's kinda like me and flexible dieting, I have to literally restrain myself when people tell me they eat 1400 calories a day. I know, I'm so annoying, but I get it - I've eaten less and moved more, but to the point where it sucked. There were nights I went to bed hungry or went to bed early so I wouldn't eat any more. Who wants to live that way?
I actually hate it when people ask me, 'oh what kind of diet are you doing?' cause the answer is confusing and long - I usually get a lot of blank stares and a smile::nod. I need to just say I count my calories, cause I do in a way, just in more detail.
My goal in life is to teach y'all that you can eat more, move more, and lose weight all while not feeling deprived. I know some of you label me a 'healthy living blogger' which is defined as "As it applies to individuals, healthy living is the practice of health enhancing behaviors, or put simply, living in healthy ways. It implies the physical, mental and spiritual capacity to make healthy choices."
Nowhere in this statement does it say you can't have sugar, or soda, or carbs. Those are all personal choices you make. In my world healthy living is everything in moderation. I occasionally have a Diet Coke, I eat at least 1 cookie a day, I eat a shit ton of carbs, but I also eat a shit ton of protein. I've come to really hate the term 'clean eating' - it's so vague and it really irks me when people are so judgmental of other peoples food.
Now - I obviously sweat a lot so that means I get to eat a lot, I probably will be depressed after my marathon when I have to lower my carbs. Anyways - here's a snapshot into my day.

ReplyDeleteJust curious why no veggies?
ReplyDeleteI dunno, guess I just wasn't in the mood for them yesterday :) Usually I get the most veggies in at dinner with a lean protein, but some one else made dinner for me last night.

ReplyDeleteI really appreciate this. I know several fitness professionals and they are always posting things on Facebook like, "Did you know that a pumpkin spice latte has almost as many calories as a Big Mac?" Yes, I get it, pumpkin spice lattes aren't good for you but I drink maybe 3 a year so lay off!
ReplyDeletehahaha - so much pumpkin hating!
Delete[Not sure where my original comment went, sorry if I post this twice]
DeleteYes, to all this! Just think about it for a minute, how many 80-90 year olds do you know that are overweight/obese? Not many and yet notice that theshe 80/90 y/o don't eat only veggies with chicken/fish. They have bacon, biscuits and jam and coffee with real cream and sugar for breakfast. Moderation is key, common sense doesnt have to be a super power people.

ReplyDeleteI think I need a food scale so I can measure out my food and get the correct nutrition for my training. I'm doing 2 half marathons this year, which is crazy since I've done zero half marathons so far. Do you mind adding me into your facebook group? my facebook is: endisfrozen@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would love to be added jessicamccann@outlook.com also this is probably a lame question, but how EXACTLY do you order that starbucks? I'd like to try it. but I know they need to know how much of the syrup and cream right?
ReplyDeleteI go in and order a SF vanilla blonde with room - then I pour my own cream and one time I weighed it so I would know what 2 tablespoon looked like and I just do that every time. Sometimes I wait and put creamer in once I get to work. You don't need to stress as long as you get close you'll be fine!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your menu plan- thank you for sharing. Everyone's days are different and sometimes life happens. I love that it's real and not starving. I always struggle with if I should eat back my calories. Seeing this, especially seeing you still had 90 cals left- you do eat back your cals. Good info to have! :) Thanks SM!
ReplyDeleteljn162@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteHi Meg! Thanks for sharing a look into what you eat for a day. I have a quick question for you that I hope you'll answer...I am also following IIFYM, and I consume close to 1900 calories a day with 120g of carbs and 170g of protein. I workout 5 days a week doing circuit training with dumbbell and body weight exercises with cardio breaks in between for about an hour each day. My muscles are constantly achy and sore, to the point where I am downright stiff and unable to move normally in the mornings...do you believe that if I increased my carbs it might help with the muscle aches or does one not have anything to do with the other? I am currently taking about 4 catalyst pills a day hoping it might help, but nothing yet. Please help if you can. Thanks - Alli

ReplyDeletebmw0029@gmail.com I use MFP as well and love it. It's how I lost 60 pounds before and now I'm at 40 pounds lost after my 2nd baby. I always get questions on how I did and I always tell them.. it's moderation. I don't ever completely eliminate something from my diet. I just stay in my calorie range and make healthy choices. Oh and exercise... there is that as well :)
