My sweet little chunk had his 4 month check up and is in the 97th percentile for height and weight! Actually him and Madison both were - I grow some healthy kids :) Seriously though, I can NOT carry him around in his car seat anymore it's killing my back and giving my calluses on one hand. I have the BOB and their car seat is unusually heavy - like for real.
We spent a little girl time together this weekend, a free slurpee at 7-11 and a mani pedi. The things that come out of her mouth, hi-larous, and she never. stops. talking. Ever. She fell in the mud while playing and had a complete meltdown when she saw her new shoes were dirty, such a girl. She's been wearing this chevron maxi dress from NoBella Grace for weeks - obsessed.
Spent a little time in the gym Sunday working on an ab video and a fun push up routine for you guys with this crazy girl. I've decided to bring back Workout Wednesday so be sure to stop back by and check out those videos! Shelly is always finding these partner moves to do on Instagram, some are a lot harder than they look so if you've got a buddy you should give some a try - just for fun :)
We are finally nearing the end of our house updating!! Late last night they did the first coat on the kitchen walls, one problem, Oliver thinks it's too boring. I MAY have ruined him with my love of bold colors! I think the problem is more that the space above the cabinets is really large and I need something really big to fill the space. I think I'm going to repaint the "SUGAR" letters I had up there and actually make it read Sugar & Spice with a fun pop of color - I really hope Hobby Lobby still carries those size letters!
Anyone have any other ideas to fill large amounts of wall space? Maybe a stencil?? This one or maybe this one.
I'm not supposed to be shopping because we are going broke on this remodel, but dang if I could pass up this fabulous rug! I mean, come on - dyyyyyyyying! Get you one here.
To save on money we actually decided to just eat tilapia and veggies every night this week for dinner - so so so over spending half my paycheck on groceries. Plus it takes the stress out of 'what's for dinner' and spending 45 minutes cooking every night, I'd much rather be kissing on my baby. We ended up saving about 60 bucks at the store!
Hope you guys are off to a good start to your week - see you tomorrow!
Love the sugar and spice idea. Maybe a large free standing mirror or large canvas of all of yall. Maybe even a lamp? I know that sounds weird but it will be different.
ReplyDeleteI bet if you added crown molding it would tie it all together well and wouldn't feel so "empty." I also think a long shelf in the middle of that space would be pretty nice with the added bonus of more display area!
ReplyDeleteI think you will love having the same thing for dinner every night. Tim and I started this a while back and I just prep the shit out my week and have minimal cooking and clean up at nights. Then you just make something different the next week. I prefer that to the daily struggle of what's for dinner. We spend less at the grocery and have much less food go to waste this way. We keep a variety of easy things to cook for Harper for when she is being picky. Life is simpler that way!
ReplyDeleteI HATE HATE HATE thinking about what to make for dinner!
DeleteTop our tipalia with some mayo or greek yogurt mixed with spices and a little parm cheese... Its SOOO good! I think the recipe I used was from Rachel Ray!
ReplyDeleteAs a designer, I would like the first pattern but I would keep it to a neutral version
ReplyDeleteI just bought those letters for our wedding in April, they should still have them!
ReplyDeleteI think the kitchen is coming along beautifully. I think pops of color is the way to go! Bright canisters on the counter, etc. I think the word above is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, LOVE your kitchen. It is going to be gorge! Where did you get the decal on the fridge? Pretty sure my fridge needs one of those!
ReplyDeleteamazon - chalkboard decal
DeleteAWESOME!! Thanks!
DeleteLove the first stencil! Maybe use a shiny silver paint.
ReplyDeleteWe're having the same problem with the car seat. It's not only hard to get him in & out of the house/car, but it's getting tough to strap him in to the thing! We're on the hunt for a convertible car seat.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the groceries! I'm a teacher, so I'm at home with my daughter for the summer & we're going broke feeding us all. There are days where I just wish I could throw a 59 cent box of mac & cheese in the cart... but I don't.
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion on using the same meal (or simple meals) to cut money. Sometimes we have sandwich or taco week over here to cut cost. Every meal does not need to be gourmet!
ReplyDeletei think i would keep it simple on just the letters, but mix of the shapes and sizes to add interest. it will really stand out! if you add too much up there, the letters won't look as cool, IMO.
ReplyDeleteSO much easier just having the same thing for dinner some weeks - M and I do that every so often when we don't feel like cooking. That rug is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI would use large vases for a pop of color above the cabinets. You can get a bunch of big, pretty ones from Old Tyme pottery. Get all different vases in a similar color family so it adds interest.
ReplyDeleteI just think the letters in a super bold color would be great.
ReplyDeleteYellow would be a great accent with the grey and white. Love your counters!
ReplyDeleteI would just do an eclectic mix of cute things above your cabinets. I think "SUGAR" is cute, but SUGAR & SPICE might be too overwhelming. You could also spell out: EAT, DINE, YUMMY, etc.... to switch it up a bit. Good Luck!!!
ReplyDeletei HATE spending my entire paycheck on groceries during the week. I am with you on just eating the same thing every night for dinner... Save that money!!! Cant wait to see the end of the remodel. it looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYou could always do like pictures up there? Vases full of wine corks? as far as decor though, i am honestly probably not the best at it!
I think you should do crown molding for sure just to help 'bring the ceiling down' if you will..... The sugar and spice letters in a fun color (turquoise chevron!) will look awesome! You could even find a neat frame to put around the [&] to beef it up some!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Pleated Poppy's kitchen (another blogger). She has some vintage globes above her kitchen cabinets. That could still be whimsy and cute and would definitely fill up that space above.
ReplyDeleteBest!
Haley
I love the crown molding idea - it should be relatively simple and cheap to DIY! Then see how much space is still left to 'fill'...
