12 Week Challenge




They say people have between 2 and 4 million sweat glands, I'm pretty sure I fall on the high end of that spectrum. Sweat like a dude. 

Anyways let's get to the point of today's post - The 12 Week Challenge. A few of us did some brainstorming on Facebook this morning and it was decided that the majority wanted a 3 month challenge and for it to take place on a closed Facebook group. 

We are going to break up the weeks into smaller goals to keep us motivated. The first 4 weeks will be about getting our diet on track, the next 4 about getting to that next level with some weights, and the last 4 weeks I will host another Diet Bet.

Here's the thing - I want full participation - no online stalking please :) If you are going to be part of it you must contribute to the group - EVERYONE must post a before and after! This is why the group is closed - no one will see it except for members. You will be more successful if you commit yourself and get the offered support from others. 


The Challenge will start on Monday so we have time to get the group all set up. Here's the link SkinnyMeg 12 Week Challenge Group.  Just be warned - I will delete members who do not participate!

Now for a winner:  I will be putting a Grand Prize pack together of my favorite things, the winner will be chosen by voting the last day of the challenge. More details to come. 

Pop Up Challenges: In addition to a grand prize I will be holding smaller competitions throughout the 12 weeks on the Facebook group.

  1. I was planning on Monday to get back on the horse and start my journey of getting a healthier me. I've done it once before, lost 60 pounds all on my own and I felt amazing! Then I got knocked up...my kid is now two and I've got the 60 pounds back on. This is EXACTLY what I need to push me harder and really motivate me. Time to light a fire under my ass!   2. I am super nervous about posting pictures...haha...but I like it! I definitely need some new accountability, and I love the idea of some smaller goals throughout the time. Count me in!

  3. I'm so excited for this. The past few weeks i have been in a funk. I have slowly been getting back on track. Throw into the mix going back to work after being a full time stay at home mom the past 6 years. I definitely need some extra motivation and accountability!!!!!!!!

  4. Oh I love that this is going to be a 12 week challenge. I am good with 4 weekers and tend to slack, then get back in gear. I've got my clean grocery list ready for this weekend (or tonight if I can make it there after work) and get back on track!

  5. I would so be willing to participate except for the weights. I am not into weights and would prefer exercise. With the group being closed I would be happy to share the before pic. I do so much better when I have a group of people that hold me accountable.... this is the perfect amount of time for me.

  6. This is SO perfect for me and the timing couldn't be better! I am at my highest weight I have been in years and am SO stuck and not happy with it. My husband and I also are planning to start a family and trying to get pregnant in Jan. 2015 and I want to be down 50-60lbs by then and I have 6 months to officially do it and this 12 week challenge will be the perfect way to kick start it! Your journey already is inspiring me and this is just the icing on the "healthy cake" lol! Thank you for doing this and I CANNOT WAIT to start and be a part of this challenge! I am going to be gearing up all wkend to hit it hard this wkend!

  14. This is so exciting! We go on vacation the last week of July and I always put on 5+ lbs. Hopefully this will keep me somewhat accountable :)

  15. First let me say you get your sweating like a dude from your Mother's side of the family. I usually say I sweat like a pig; but dude is so much better. As one of many of my favorite nieces, I have watched your outside transformation. I always thought you were beautiful, chubby or skinny. I think you and Oliver are amazing people and parents. Not to say I love everything you do. I don't. But that's OK. So with that in mind I have also began my own 12 week makeover. Now let me be clear, there will be no 4am visits to the gym, and I am very sure there will not be any cleansing. But there will be cleaner eating, and walks in the neighborhood in the evenings. There will not be any before pictures of Aunt Connie, but there may be a 12 week picture. Thanks for the inspiration, and motivation to get my fat butt in gear. (CLINK) here's to a slimmer Aunt Connie in 12 weeks.

  18. This sounds really interesting, but I'm starting a super intense half marathon training program next week and I don't think I'll be able to do much with weights. Is that ok?

  22. I'm excited, but nervous about the sheer amount of people doing the challenge and how will it be manageable?
    Haha, "Sweat like a dude" I love it!! Although I sweat WAY more than my husband ever does, I will sometimes say to a select few girlfriends, "I'm sweatin like a hooker on pay day!"

  25. Just a thought:: You might want to change the group to SECRET after it begins on Monday, and people start posting pictures/weights/etc. for member privacy. Even though it is a "closed" group, people/friends that follow others on FB may see that "so-in-so posted in SkinnyMeg's weight loss challenge". That's a FB glitch, and by having the group SECRET, those comments won't show up in our friends feeds or the FB sidebar.
