My Easy Beauty Routine

I get comments almost daily about how put together I look for having a newborn. I think Madison's preschool teachers are sure I never sleep :) I firmly believe that making a little effort to look nice helps my attitude, towards myself and everyone around me. When I look good I feel good and I make healthier choices {well, usually!}.

First off my hair - I've been growing it out and while I'm enjoying a little length it's so annoying when it takes longer than 10 minutes to complete. Normally I round brush it to get a nice full look, but that takes longer now that it's to my shoulders.

Instead I've been blow drying upside down and then doing a quick curl job with my HOT TOOLS 1 1/2 inch Curling Iron . I use large sections and only do the bottom, takes about 3 minutes.

Next is my big hair secret.
Kenra 25 Volume Spray

On the left is no Kenra on the right is awesome Kenra. If my house were burning down I might just grab this before I ran out - love it!

Next is make up. This is my bare bones - I just had a baby - routine. While I enjoy simple now when I go back to work I love to use more products {like eyeshadows} just because I like trying new products and new looks on myself.

1.  Urban Decay Naked Foundation put on with my it Cosmetics Dual Ended Concealer/foundation Brush: Seriously one pump on the top of the bush for each side of my face and we are good to go. I love the light coverage and the 'glow' I get from it.

2. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee Poppy Paradise put on with my Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush: This is a new product I tried and loved - the color is a perfect coral for summer and the texture is great for a glow. The secret to a good 'wet' blush is using a brush to put it on!

3. Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings - Medium with my brow brush {no clue on the brand}: this product has a wax and powder for perfect application! Now if only I had time to actually get my brows shaped...

4. bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick (Get Ready): Got this is an Ipsy bag and really like the consistency and color!

Wa-La

Finished just in time to throw a load of laundry in and dress the baby is a suitable matching outfit.

How adorable is he in a pink polo?? It was so freaking cute I didn't even tear up at the fact that it's a 3 month outfit. ALREADY.

My pretty top is from Sugar Love Boutique!

  3. So true about how something as simple as a little blush and gloss can really change how you feel! You look great!

  4. Look at you and your little one! He is so handsome...I'm a sucker for cute handsome baby boys, especially bald ones like yours! That's so great that you are practicing self care and doing those things that you know make you feel good. A lot of us could take a lesson from your book, myself included.

  7. Love that you are a truly PRACTICAL minimalist when it comes to hair and makeup. Ain't nobody got time for 20+ minute makeup and hair routines! Well, unless you have no kids, I guess :)

  8. I have been wanting to try that Naked Foundation... You may have inspired me. I have been using Kenra for several years. They have a thickening blow dry lotion that is awesome. It makes your hair so shiny too. Kenra and Morroccan Oil are my FAVORITES!

  9. I just wanted to say how much I truly enjoy reading your blog. Your children are both absolutely adorable (I can't get enough Twilight Sparkle and pink polos) and I love how inspired I feel reading each entry! I'm not a Mom (yet) but I feel encouraged reading about how you invest in yourself (health, maintaining a beauty routine, etc), which is a lesson that will be invaluable for your kiddos! Can't wait to read more about your adventures!

  10. You are lovely! And that baby is SO CUTE!!!! I totally agree with looking better=feeling better. Even if it's just a little makeup or a nicer outfit than the one you "feel" like wearing because you feel blah so you automatically go for clothes that are blah (this is all a hypothetical "you"!!!!). When I'm not feeling that great I force myself to put on something in a bright color (I dress pretty casually) and put on some makeup (not something I necessarily enjoy- like being ready, don't like getting ready) and generally my mood gets a little better.
