My 'Lose the Baby Weight' Plan

I weighed myself this morning, 12 days after giving birth, and I've lost 17 pounds, putting me at 193.  Sounds pretty standard given Aiden was 7p 13oz.  The only area still swollen is the lower half of my belly, which looks like a sad deflated balloon. Good thing I know I can EVENTUALLY make it look better or I'd be freaking out right now calling a plastic surgeon :) Everyday it gets a little better.

I've been blessed with good friends and neighbors who've cooked so much good food for me, but the baby vacation is over and I'm ready to buckle down on my nutrition.

I've been logging in My Fitness Pal, my calorie goal right now is 2300. 1800 was my net before pregnancy and I'm adding 500 for nursing. My issue is cutting the sugar, that pesky devil food is hard to shake. I didn't crave it during pregnancy, but I sure am now.

My Plan.

Step One:
Reread This Is Why You're Fat by Jackie Warner during my {many} nursing sessions. I love how she explains what all that crap food does to your body, your all 'ewwww I'm never eating that crap again' hahaha.

Step Two:
A Spring Diet Bet! I'm pretty excited to participate for the first time and I like how it's a month long so it will help keep me on track past step 3 :) It is open to everyone so if you would like to participate with me you can sign up here!

Step Three:
I am going to do the Advocare 10 Day Cleanse, but because I am breastfeeding I'm doing a modified version.

1. Fiber Drink (Peaches and Cream flavor only!!!)
5. Spark Energy Drink (one a day) {not required}

You can find info on the full 10 Day Cleanse here.

I foresee my biggest struggle will be getting that many calories in the right way. I'm aiming for at least 100g of protein right now and I'm hitting between 100-120 on a daily basis which is good for the booby juice.
I had a lot of questions on this affecting my supply, but I feel confident that it won't for two reasons.
1. I took all of this while I was pregnant and I'm still using 2-4 on a daily basis, the nurses were impressed I took a probiotic because it's so good for the baby in utero and out!
2. I never had supply issues with Madison {we BF'd for 9 months} and I exercised and dieted from about the time she was 8 weeks old. In fact I KNOW my nutrition was lacking and I still didn't have issues.
***I'm not a Doctor so check with yours, all ingredients are listed on the website, print them out and take them with you***
****If you have questions about any of this email me at skinnymeg@outlook.com****

I'm not in any rush to OMG LOSE ALL THE WEIGHT RIGHT NOW, but I don't feel like it does me any good to continue to eat like I'm still pregnant :) I realize it took 9 months to get on and it will take a while to get off, but I feel confident that my plan will help motivate me along. The first week will be the hardest for me! I will be sharing some of my foods and such along the way and I'm thinking I will do a weekly weigh in on Mondays, I can do a link up if enough people are interested. I have extra time with all those nursing sessions, this guy eat a TON.

I feel pretty good in clothing, so that's what I'm focusing on right now. Swimsuits will come later!

  1. To help you not eat sugar, eating it in excess while bf-ing can lead to an increase risk of thrush. No one wants to go through that!

  6. Does your 1800 calories include calories burned during exercise? I've been playing around with my fitness pal and have it set at 1300 calories (but seem to go over pretty much every day which gets me super frustrated). I lose going over the 1300, but it can be demoralizing going over every day! Did you just play around with your calorie intake until you found that 1800 worked for you?

    1. You should add your exercise calories in. Often the calorie trackers are a bit crap though. But yes. If you eat 1300 which is low to start with and burn 400, that leaves you at an completely unbsustaniable 900 calories which will destroy your metabolism.

  7. The C Section flap is the worst! I have to do "the tuck" with mine. It has gotten so much better though.

  10. I just have to say that I LOVE that you are always in control of YOU. I've had three babies and each time I would wait around for the magic time when I would suddenly be "done" eating like I was pregnant... and then I would be devastated that my baby was 6/9 months old and I hadn't done a thing. Society tricks you into thinking you can do NOTHING and SHOULD look like a model mom. You have made an impression on me for future babies that 10 days is PLENTY of time to take a break, then get started. I am in the middle of a 21 day sugar detox (no added sugars) and I feel AMAZING. I'm on day 8 and it really helps to cut the sweets craving. Best of luck! Thanks for letting this stay at home mom follow along! :)

  35. I admire your motivation! I just went to this seminar about Diastasis Recti and how to correct it (this particular seminar talking about using the Tupler Technique). But I think it's worth checking out because I had no clue!! It's the connective tissue in your abdominal muscles. Typically after pregnancy there's a large gap and it's weak, which gives that "pooch" appearance foreverrrrr - it's super easy to check where you are with it, YouTube videos abound. And correcting it is surprisingly easy! Anyway, just thought I'd share in case it helped! Congrats on the new baby!!!

Doctor is mentioning formula but I am determined to get the milk super fatty for the little man :) soooo… I need help with food ideas! I am so clueless with all this :( any tips? Good food suggestions? Thank you in advance!
