17 Weeks: Gender Reveal

I am SO glad I decided to have a gender reveal, I have to say it's just more exciting and fun to find out with all my friends and family! Saturday the weather was not ideal, I woke up at 6am to start setting up and it was so humid and grey clouds loomed overhead all morning. I was expecting some nice fall weather! Cute sign from Etsy: Custom Paper Memories.

After 2 hours spent outside hanging cute circle garland, banners, chevron backdrops, and balloons a huge gust of cold wind came through and destroyed it all. The wind in my neighborhood is unreal so I knew it was useless to fight it. I did get my chalkboard done with a few old wives' tales and another my mom made.

Thankfully I ordered some amazing BBQ from CW BBQ here in Dallas, omg yummmmmmmmm. It's nice not having to worry about cooking when you're throwing a party.

We decided to open the reveal box inside because it was just so cold out. The wreath was made by my very talented neighbor Becky. Cupcakes were from Say It with Sugar, so fluffy and delish, I hate overly sweet cupcakes.

I'm a sucker for a good bounce house, I want Twilight Sparkle to always have a blast :)

She jumped her little heart out all day and night, don't these two just look like they are plotting something?? I'm scared for when they are teenagers!

My Mom and Twilight Sparkle.

Finally it was time for the big reveal!

The box decal is from Etsy: VineYard Vinyl. I have to say I was pretty nervous to open the box. I would say 90% of our guests were Team Boy. Which would explain why so many pink buttons were left :)

I guess y'all heard, but we are having a BOY!

I am in shock actually, it's just so weird to me that I'm having a boy. I feel out of my comfort zone and I've had a day of grieving for all the cute girly baby clothes that I won't get to reuse.  I'm not really upset about it being a boy, more just about the girly stuff I love, so I got on Etsy and found some awesomeness.

I mean, how freaking cute is this little outfit! I mayyyyy have bought 3 other things from this shop today. I think we are set on a name, but I've been known to change my mind so I'm not sharing it here just yet.

I mean look at Big T, just chillin' with his pick of the blondes! hahaha. Twilight Sparkle is OK with it being a boy, she's insisting we name him Yogurt?? I had to tell her I was a big sister and I have little brothers and she wasn't really connecting who Uncle Daniel and Uncle Ben ARE. I'm just glad she didn't cry!

Honestly my biggest hope is that this next one looks like ME!!

  1. I was so confused about what I would do if I ever had a boy. Two boys later and I love it!! No pink girly things in this house, but boys are so much fun! Minus getting peed on a few times when they're first born ;) congrats girl, you're an amazing mom and it is going to be so much fun watching them grow up together xoxo

  9. You can always call him Yogurt unless she changes her mind between now and then, I think that goes well with Twilight Sparkle!

I am so excited for you guys! I want one of each when we have our own, that way you get to experience both, and now Twilight Sparkle has a future little protector so daddy doesn't have to be the only one fighting the boys off! :)

  13. Congratulations!!!

I try to dress my son like a "little man". Bow ties are adorable. This summer we found him a pair of little Toms on sale that were super cute. In the winter each year we get him a North Face jacket like Daddy's.

  14. I am a girl-lover, too. It's more in my element and I honestly don't know what I'd do with a boy, but I was secretly wishing you were having a boy. One of each is PERFECT!

And that outfit with the bow tie? I die.

I may have missed this portion in an earlier blog, but who was the one who knew the sex and put the box together?

Anyhow, congratulations! I read your blog everyday and never comment, but this news is too exciting to read and not comment!

  18. It's such a blessing to experience having one of each gender! They are soo different!

I was at the Dirty Girl Mud Run in Dallas on Saturday...it was warm and pretty outside when we started at 8am. We got done with our race and went into the tent to clean up for about 10 min....when we came out it was dark & FREEZING!! That quick! So glad we sucked it up & did the first wave!

  19. Congrats! I felt the same way when we found we were having a boy. I was so sad I wasn't going to get to buy tutus and bows.

BUT, having a little boy has been the greatest. I might not be able to buy him bows, but he's got lots of bow ties! In fact, he's got a very similar bow tie and onesie set. SO stinking cute!

  20. Congrats!!! My daughter did cry when I told her I was having a boy, then she got over it and got excited. However now she tells me ALL THE TIME that she never wanted a brother. I always wanted a girl and was glad my first was a girl, but I was AMAZED at how much my baby boy grabbed my heart. He is still my sweetest child and tells everyone he loves his mommy the most. You are so blessed to be having a boy!

  29. Yogurt is an awesome name!! My oldest wanted to name the baby Home Depot if it was a girl and Dirtbike if it was a boy!! Think of what kind of cool names we'd all have if we let the siblings name the babies!!! hahaha!! I'm a boy mom--so I was definitely Team Boy!! Boys love their mommas like no other!! Congrats:)

  30. How fun!! I love all the decorations and pinks and blues. I agree, it must be more fun finding out with all your friends and family. So did someone take the box and the results somewhere to get the balloons without finding out themselves??

Madison is going to be a great big sister, I'm sure. She is at such a great age to be a big help to mommy without getting too jealous (just a little, though). Can't wait to find out what name you have picked!

  35. Hooray!!! I am so hapy fo ryou! I have one of each and it really helps the family feel complete in a way. I, of course, would have loved for Hayden to have a sister bc I loooove my sister so fiercely. But, having a brother is super cool too and I love that my hubby has his boy to do boy type stuff with :)

  36. Still sad we couldn't make it :( Everything looked completely adorable, and maybe he will look like you but he will definitely be a mama's boy (in a good way!).

  37. Yay! Congratulations!! Did you get pictures of those that were on team boy vs. team girl? My hubby wouldn't let me ask guests to wear one color or the other, but I'd really like a lasting memory of those who were team girl versus team boy!
