My 6 year wedding anniversary is coming up this weekend and while I'm sure you all think Oliver's the lucky one, I'm here to tell you why I'm the luckiest.
Oliver saved me from myself.
I was on a road of self destruction and couldn't make a good choice to save my life, literally. He was there for me when no one else was, he supported me, and he gave me the amazing life I have today. Sure I made these choices, but I can tell you without a doubt I would not be here if it wasn't for him.
He knows how to fight.
We fight, in fact we fight pretty regularly, but he never ever pulls crap out of the past and guilt's me. Oh he can sure piss me off, but we have a system; we fight, we separate, and a little while later he'll come over and ask if I'm done being a brat. Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not. He also knows when to just let it go and when to apologize, like that time he got too drunk on our cruise and I lost him for 2 hours.
He's secure in himself.
He respects my opinion and has come to realize I give amazing advice. In fact he's even learned that I'm usually right, which I appreciate him admitting. He's smart, humble, and my biggest supporter.
He knows how to share.
I'll be honest, I thought most only children were spoiled brats, growing up in a family with four children, sharing was my middle name. That actually may explain why I hate to do it now :) Oliver is a giver and is really awesome at compromising {which we call 'lets make a deal' in my house}.
He's the Yin to my Yang.
Or wait, am I the Yin?? Either way I would be sacking groceries at 65 if it wasn't for his harping about my 401k contributions, weekly. I would also probably be so botoxed up my face wouldn't move. Kidding. Kinda. I definitely would be walking around with shoes, purses, and clothing that I couldn't afford. He grounds me, but also lets me be me when I need it.
So Oliver I'm a lucky girl to have found you. I'm even luckier that you are good looking.
I thank you for everything you did and still do for me and your reward is a fun wife who grows you cute babies. You're welcome.
Happy Anniversary Huggie ;)

ReplyDeleteI nearly spewed coffee all over my keyboard when I read "like that time he got drunk and I lost him for two hours." I lost my husband at a club for over an hour because he was passed out in the bathroom, and none of my guy friends could recognize his feet underneath the stall. Totally know the feeling, sister!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a sweet post. ♥ Happy anniversary!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! Congratulations on your anniversary! Here's to at least 60 more.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty cute. I remember reading your blog before you gots super big (before you took on the title of ML's blog bestie) ;) I loved your spunk and personality then...and I love how you still got it. You seem to really have your shit together, and you are so authentic. I haven't officially congratulated you on your pregnancy yet (I don't comment on blogs very often-oops!), but I've been following along the past few weeks via Instagram and your blog. So incredibly happy for you and your family. We are still in the throes of our infertility journey. It still sucks major, big balls (in case you forgot--just kidding--I doubt you have). But each little success story I come across gives me hope. I know that we too will get there as well. I've gained 40lbs while on fertility drugs this past year, but I have to remember that it isn't just about the weight that I've gained. I've met amazing women, and gained knowledge, hope....and a shit ton of inspiration as well. The weight sucks, yes. But everything else is solid gold. Thanks for being a part of that. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your husband as well!
Super sweet!
ReplyDeleteAww. Very sweet post. Happy Anniversary!
