Skin Care Giveaway!

Today I have a FANTASTIC giveaway from Rodan and Feilds! The older I get the more obsessed I become with taking care of my skin. Here is a little background and info on the company:

Rodan + Fields Dermatologists is an anti-aging focused skincare line designed to combat the major areas that people encounter as their skin changes at all ages. Created by the award winning dermatologists who created Proactiv, Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields wanted to have a line that would work for all ages, no matter what type of skin issues you encounter.

Here is a breakdown in the various regimens:
**Redefine: for wrinkles, elasticity, and pore minimization
**Unblemish: for acne and post acne marks
**Reverse: for sun damage, brown spots, and discoloration
**Soothe: for sensitive skin issues such as eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis
**Enhancements: products designed to be used in addition to the four main regimens
**Essentials: moisturizer, sunscreen, lip shield, sunless tanner

60-day 100% money back guarantee on all products!

I was able to give some of the product a try and here's what I thought about them:

The first product I tried was the Microdermabrasion Paste, I am a big fan of scrubs to keep my skin smooth and glowly! This one was great, you use it on dry skin and while it was oil free it was hydrating enough to get all over my face without any water, not pasty at all.

I followed it up with some of their eye and lip night products, I could still feel it on my skin the next morning and my skin was really soft, so winning!

The next week I got to try one of their best tools: Redefine Macro Exfoliator

I read the instructions, but it was pretty easy to figure out. The tools has automatic setting that tell you where to use it and for how long, it even tells you what direction to go!

"It features patent-pending DOC-SMART™ technology, developed and programmed by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, to vary the degree and duration of macro-exfoliation based on facial area. So effective, the REDEFINE MACRO Exfoliator is clinically proven to visibly improve skin texture after only one use. "

You even use it on your neck and chest, which are usually overlooked when you take care of your skin. I will say from working in the beauty industry for several years I am diligent with lotioning up my neck :)

I finished off with some cooling gel which was surprising smooth and not sticky.

Overall I really liked it and that week I think my skin was looking smoother under my makeup so I can just imagine the results I would get from regular use! I thought the tool was quick and easy way to add that extra level of skincare I need to my routine, I could easily take it to the gym with me and use it before I get ready.

SkinnyMeg's DietBet: Get Fit for Fall!

Fall is right around the bend, HALLELUJAH, I can. Not. Wait. I’m ready for leggings, scarves, boots, and jackets. Ok, pretty much an entire new wardrobe J

With summer wrapping up and everyone back to their normal routines {hello teachers I’m talking to you!} I thought it would be a perfect time to motivate ourselves to lose those last few vacation pounds we’ve been carrying around.

Months ago I set up this Diet Bet, not knowing I would get pregnant, but knowing this is the around the time I like to buckle down and get healthy before the Holidays hit. DietBet isn’t a diet or weight loss plan. You won’t be getting a food or exercise plan to follow, and you won’t be expected to attend any weekly meetings. DietBet is simply an incentive and means of accountability.

Now, I love the idea of a ‘group’ challenge so I will be hosting a weekly link up for recipes {healthy ones, no yummy mouthwatering Pinterest desserts please} and I will also start a {secret} Facebook group for everyone participating for the four weeks where we can chat and share with each other! I will do four recipe link ups each with different themes so we can all get some great food ideas because we know that's where most of us struggle.

How it works:
Click here to join the game and pay $25 to join in. The game is 28 days long (4 weeks) and the goal is to lose 4% of your body weight in that time. If, at the end of 4 weeks, you have lost 4% of your body weight, you will split the pot with any other participants that have also hit the goal. That’s only 1% a week, very doable!

How do I weigh in?

You will be required to submit two different photos for your weigh-in. You must be completely honest with this process (DietBet will further investigate any weight loss patterns that seem “suspicious.”) And isn’t the point to actually lose weight here? Statistics have also shown that 90% of DietBet participants have lost weight!

What if I win?

Click here to read more about the contest.

To join SkinnyMeg's Contest click here.

The contest will start on September 3rd {right after the holiday!} and I'm looking forward to hosting this for y'all. I'm happy to help and if you have any questions or have problems entering please email me at skinnymeg@ymail.com

I'll be back with our normal W.O.W next week!

Albion Giveaway!!

Bumpdate Week 11: Feeling Good!

Mini Skinny Bumpdate Week 11

Ahhh, sweet relief. I'm finally feeling less sick, more energized, and overall more MEGAN. I was allowed to stop taking my progesterone pills and maybe that's what's been making me so icky? Either way, I'm glad to have turned a corner, I was getting a little depressed just feeling so unlike myself for so long.

Her awesome new big sister shirt from Personally Stitched!
I have a fetal sonogram thingy with an different doctor on Wednesday, just for checking markers for different things that could be wrong. They can also give you a good guess at the gender, I actually found out Madison was girl at 12 weeks, but we are having a gender reveal party {guys, girls, and kids!} on Oct 5th so I'll wait to get the envelope closer to the date so I'm not tempted to look :) Oliver and Madison are coming, I know she'll be excited to see the baby again, she

Oliver came home from his 2 week trip on Friday, so Thursday night I made the most of my free time :)
I enjoyed a nice scrub down in my bubble bath.

I forgot how much I enjoy a little 'spa' time in my own bathroom. I used to do it a lot more before I had a child who stripped down and jumped in with you. In fact, I'm pretty sure I did it every other day when I was pregnant with Madison because my back hurt so bad.

Followed by a little mini facial {I love the microscrub from Rodan and Fields!!}, and I tried out some new night cream from them which had my face super soft the next morning.

Saturday Oliver was glued to my side, guess he did miss me :) We just ran errands, it was so freaking hot outside it was miserable, so we dropped the never ending chatter box Madison off at Mimi's and went to see We are the Millers. It. was. hilarious. I can't remember the last time we laughed that hard at a movie!!

We finished off date night by hitting the grocery store, haha. On the was home he was telling me my hair looked crazy in the back so he was taking pictures so I could see it.

I'm trying to explain to him that's my Saturday hair, I try to do as little as possible on the weekends. I spend so much time and effort doing it during the week, the LAST thing I want to do on a weekend is my hair and makeup. Ain't nothin' wrong with that! He was also telling me he wants to run a half in December, so like a good wife I woke him up at 5:30 on Sunday to get in a run.

He runs 2 to 4 miles here and there, but didn't run the whole two weeks he was gone. Of course I made him do 7 :)

Her survived. Barely. I might be knocked up, but I can still kick his ass! We had breakfast and then picked up Madison after church, she was nice enough to 'hold' my chalkboard Mimi made me in the back seat.

I didn't take belly pics with Madison and seeing how this is my last pregnancy I wanted to do weekly pictures starting Wednesday when I hit 12 weeks!

Happy Monday!!

W.O.W #17 Discouraged

Welcome back to Workout Wednesday!
Grab a button and link up to the party!

As I was reading through the entries for last week I came across a post on Newlywed Greggs where she talked about being discouraged. She was eating right, killing it at the gym, and not losing a pound. I can totally relate to this so I thought I would just reiterate some of the things that helped me past rough times like this.
1. Food. Probably a good bet that you are not eating enough, or enough of the right things. I encourage the use of a heart rate monitor, like my Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor (Purple/Pink). Perfect example, this morning all my teachers were back in the gym so we worked out together.

One of the other girls wearing her watch burned 200 more calories than I did, you need to know your burn so you can fuel correctly. I suggest starting out that you eat back half your workout calories.
Figure out how many calories you need, I need to eat at least 1850 sometimes more depending on my workouts. Here's a post I did on how to figure out how many you need.

2. Cardio doesn't equal skinny. More cardio is not the answer, but its what most women go to when they want to drop a few. The main reason I do Workout Wednesdays is to give you guys options, I do something different almost every time I go to the gym. That's what keeps me going and keeps me motivated, trying new things. I've been hitting the gym at least 5 days a week now for years and I'm not bored yet!

3. Cleanse. I'm a big lover of the Advocare cleanse, the first time I did it I was stuck at 220 and it helped me get past that hurdle and I've been a believer ever since. For 32 bucks and 10 days of effort it's well worth it to help reset your body and get you back on track.

Ok, now on to the workout for today. It's a quick cardio blaster with a weight bench, but only using your body weight.

I really should start recording the videos BEFORE I kick my own ass at the gym, maybe I'll look less like death warmed over ;)

Guest Bath

If you've been stalking me for a while then you may remember my purple bathroom. It was one of the first rooms I ever painted and I picked this color after seeing another bathroom in a similar shade and loving it.  While I enjoyed it for a while, the bathroom is tiny and windowless so I thought it was time for something a little lighter.

After shopping online I came across this gorgeous Ruffled Waterfall Shower Curtain, but I only paid half that so it must have been on sale. The walls got a coat of Cumulus Cloud by Martha Stewart.

I hate towel racks, so I replaced them with hooks from Hobby Lobby, which of course are over looked by Lucy the Duck {so named by Twilight Sparkle}. Lucy is from Iron Willow in Canton, which is also where I've gotten many a sign, my angel heart, and my turquoise angel wings.

I refinished the cabinets with Rust-oleum Cabinet Transformation, which I highly recommend, it's fool proof and looks fantastic! Out with the builder beige! I used one box to do both bathrooms, 70 bucks, what a great deal for an upgraded look.

The mirror was half off at Hobby Lobby, the sign is from there also, and the light fixture I {DID MYSELF!} bought from Lowes. Honestly once you figure out how to change a light fixture it so addicting, I've changed out 6 different ones around the house already. I only wish we could survive without ceiling fans, a chandy in every room would be my dream come true!

Oh yeah and can't forget my little helper who's learning to use the hammer and drill ;) Never to young to start them off!

BumpDate Week 10

Week 10 had it's ups and downs, somedays I felt amazing and somedays I had to pull will power from SOMEWHERE to get through the day. My eating is still all over the place, those baby fish pretzels are a constant to keep the hunger away. On one particularly hard day I even had to mix them with M&M's for a sugar rush to keep me awake. It actually did help!

The weather cooled off for the weekend and it felt AMAZING out! I can't remember the last time we had such cool weather for August in Texas, so we took advantage of it and got up early for a 12 mile run Saturday.

I am telling you this Nathan Minimist Vest, 1.5-Liter, Orange/White is so worth the money! I actually filled my with magic this time around, I ran those 12 and felt so good I wanted to go for 14, but not everyone wanted was on board for more ;) OK, it wasn't REALLY magic it was the Rehydrate from Advocare and I can't believe I haven't been using this! This is the first time I've hydrated with something other than water and I could tell in my endurance, my pace was faster, and I had zero stomach cramping after my run!

I've been asked a lot about my heart rate, am I watching it? am I keeping it under a certain number? I do watch it at the gym and I try not to get it above 160 for very long {more than 10 minutes at a time} so I break up my cardio and do them in 10 minute increments between my weights. When I'm running outside my heart rate tends to be lower so I don't really watch it, I just go by how I feel. Your heart rate range really just depends on your body before, I'm used to working out with a higher heart rate so it's not stressful on my body, I would say I'm working out at about 75% of my normal 'prepregnancy' effort.

After that I went and picked up Twilight Sparkle from Pawpalooza, she was sad she couldn't swim with all the doggies in the pool. Naturally I cheered her up by taking her to Target and spending way to much on new clothes for her. I couldn't help it, they have some adorable Fall items out! Like both of these tops and a black and white blazer I couldn't find online. OMG>> I love her in a blazer!

After that we spent a few hours at a princess party.

Then we had lunch with my parents and she fell asleep at 6 pm and slept until the next morning. All through dinner, the drive home, and me almost dropping her in the bed {uh, she's HEAVY!}.

Almost out of the first trimester, I really hope the second one is just a little easier ;)

I'm loving Fitness and Fumbling's blog! She shared a great treadmill workout, but her blog is full of fun fitness stuff, be sure to stop by and check her out!

Chelsea from Anchors Aweigh wrote a great post about skinny vs fit, but after browsing her blog I got sidetracked by this NUTELLA BANANA BREAD! What can I say, I'm pregnant :)

BumpDate Week 9: Weight

I saw my weight and had a mini meltdown. The doctor does all your forms online now and they called to tell my I had to take a round of antibiotics for something, so I logged in to see what it was called and there it was: 160. UGH. I know, I know I'm growing a life and its a blessing and obviously I KNOW that, but I just wasn't prepared for so much so fast.  My eating is not great, all I want in life is to shove potatoes smothered in butter, sour cream, and cheese in my face. I even gagged on almonds today. I have two weeks until my second trimester, I'm praying for some relief. Some normalcy.

I did feel better after I slipped on a pair of jeans and they buttoned! The number doesn't define me, but it's hard not to be scared I'm going to balloon up again. I remember what it was like and I don't want to get there again.
Her adorable outfit is from Red 32 Designs on Etsy.

I really wished I could be a super healthy pregnant girl, but damn if those craving don't take over your entire body. Praying for some will power to come my way!!

I'm trying to keep up with my running, I'm officially registered to run the Fort 4 Fitness in Fort Wayne September 27th!! Sunday I did 7 miles, but that humidity gave me a super headache for the rest of the day. Tylenol is a rip off, what I wouldn't give for some Advil!

Twilight Sparkle is getting pretty fast on her bike, or I'm getting slow, either way it's fun to take her riding while we run. Oliver's trying to get her up to biking four miles a day by December :)

Saturday we spent the day at her first circus, Dragons was awesome, and even the 13 dollar bag of cotton candy was delish. I've never had lemon cotton candy, but I highly recommend it!

I seriously just want to cover that sweet girl with kisses all day. She was a difficult baby, but I'm happy to say she has grown into a very polite and energetic little lady.

All from Target

Here's to week 10 being a little easier ~
