MiniSkinny Week 6: Not Weighing Myself

I feel sorry for you guys, I told you so early on that I was pregnant that it's going to seem like FOREVER before I give birth! Sorry 'bout that.

To sum up the last week: tired.
I've learned that it doesn't matter how much sleep I get at night, I'm still exhausted all day. The only thing getting me through my days are my 20 minute car naps. After I realized that I could sleep 10 hours a night and still be tired I figured I may as well just get up and go to the gym at 5am.

Some days are better than others, if I'm feel extra lethargic I focus more on my weights and if I can muster the energy I do some cardio. I'm really playing it day by day. I do feel that exercise is helping with my morning sickness, I feel the worst on my 'rest' days.

I had my last sono with the RE, we got to see the tiny little heartbeat, which is always like watching a miracle. I also found an OB near work and I have my first appt. next Wednesday.

I also have not weighed myself. I'm in that weird phase of pregnancy, you feel like crap, you're bloated, you're hungry, and you just don't feel like 'you'. I'm struggling with negative body feelings and I thought it would be best to wait until the end of my first trimester to step on my scale. I feel like my hips have spread, thighs have already softened, and my boobs are definitely fuller.

This time around I have an ENTIRELY different perspective on my body, with Madison I was just so happy to be pregnant and I couldn't WAIT to have a belly. I also never imagined I would gain 80 pounds, so this time around I'm much more conscious of what can happen to my body. It's hard mentally to be pregnant after all the hard work I put into getting into shape. From the very first week I was aware that things were going to change immediately, I couldn't keep up my pace when running or find that extra 'umph' I had for the gym. There was no 'easing' into it I guess you could say.

Well, at least my pants are still buttoning :)

Love,
SkinnyMeg

  1. You're going to look fabulous, regardless! You are growing your long awaited miracle, enjoy it! Don't let those negative thoughts ruin such a happy time. Oh and your pregnancy will seem a lot longer to you than us! I found out I was preggo when I was only 3 weeks, talk about a long pregnancy. Ha!

  2. You are going to look amazing no matter what changes your body goes through. You are way more critical on yourself and I know it is hard, but just focus on being healthy. Love you!

I think this is one of my favorite outfits you have posted lately! When I saw it my first thought was, "How can I replicate that out of my closet??"

    Have a great day!

  6. Totally feel your pain! I am 10.5 weeks and at 8 weeks had a race. I am use to 10 min miles and I did 12:40! It was depressing! Then the other day I went on a 4 mile run and averaged 13 min miles! I guess at least I am still getting out there. I also hate going to the dr. and looking at the scale. I have super negative thoughts as well about my self image now. I kind of liked my 3 other pregnancies, I didn't worry. Now it is always on my mind!

  9. I envy you for your dedication! I'm in a slump! I did so well for about 4 months and these last couple of months, I haven't had the umph to exercise! I need a big eye opener or something! Feeling down.

  10. It's definately hard to watch your body "expand" after all your hard work but at least your healthy and not giving into "your eating for two" mentality. I'm sure you'll do great!

  16. So by saying you're in "that" phase, does that mean it gets better? Does that mean I'll feel like myself again in a few weeks or does the whole weird, tired, body-not-your-own feeling last the entire time? Because I sure wouldn't mind feeling like myself again sometime soon!

  21. You look so beautiful and now that you are super fit lady, your body will help keep itself in check! I had a personal trainer leading up to getting pregnant with my son and it really helped my body know what to do during and post pregnancy. Try to enjoy it and remember, chocolate is yummy!!! lol.

  22. Thank you for writing this - its nice to know I am not alone in how I am feeling. I am experiencing pretty much everything you are - am having a super hard time accepting the changes after working so hard to lose weight. I'm very happy about it :) It's just a big adjustment. Kudos to you for working out at 5 a.m.! I don't think I could do that LOL

  25. Well, you always have those monthly dr. visit weigh ins to look forward to. :) I think you look adorable and maybe it is just your IG filter, but you are glowing! It is very obvious that you are happy and it is fun to see.

  26. I am week 11 now and finally have enough stamina to go to the gym tonight after work....I think ;) I have had extreme morning sickness for over 6 weeks now and can seriously hardly get out of bed. Walking to the bathroom was too hard for me! Today even if I just walk for 30 mins I wll be glad I actually did it. Now if only my food aversions would go away.....I cant eat anything and it sucks so much :(

  27. Good for you! I was 3 lbs from goal weight on WW when I found out I was pregnant back in December. I'm 35 weeks now but have really struggled with the mental aspect of weight gain during pregnancy. I'm looking forward to hearing your experiences and hopefully supporting each other through it!

  28. You're so cute and I know you'll be much better off this pregnancy because of how fit and active you are! About the tiredness. Mine didn't really go away at all with my last pregnancy. I hope you have more energy than I did!

  29. I haven't had any children yet but I feel like I've let my body go so much (and I have no excuse, just being lazy). I pushed for my wedding and did a great job then got lazy. I'm back at working toward my goals again, changing my lifestyle but the way you are describing this 2nd pregnancy after all your hard work is a fear I have. Thanks for being so honest and posting this, makes girls like me, who are ready for the next step in their lives realize they can take a more active approach to fitness and pregnancy together!!! :)

  30. Car naps rock! I utilized those with 1st babe that thought sleep was overrated.
You're a different eater now, you really might make it through this not gaining a pound (minus baby and water weight). Eat healthy and mindfully and all is good!

  31. oh my goodness I felt like I HAD to workout to not be sick with my only boy child. It was weird. Never even close to that feeling with my girls. Working out was terrible with them. I was that green faced lady that would steer clear of those smelly BO men at the gym or I woulda barfed on the spot;) LOVE your blog!! Keep on inspiring and growing humans and all that stuff;)
