Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday, I just really felt the need to sleep in until 5, some days you just need it ☺
Today’s post is going to be random, I just have so many unrelated things to share.
Let’s start with Twilight Sparkle.
She’s getting big y’all and is turning into more of a kid every day. She’s ‘reading’ {memorizing words} and ‘writing’ {tracing letters}, dressing herself {usually in the same 2 outfits}, and all around growing up. It’s makin’ me just a tad sad, but it sure is nice to have her be so much more independent. Plus she's totally a Momma's girl now and Oliver's not happy about it.
I worked on some projects this weekend!! I can’t tell you how much I MISS working on this kind of stuff now that I’m working full time.
Up first is my vintage light fixture that my Mom bought me for my birthday. I wanted to hang it above my kitchen sink, but I had a recessed can light and I wasn’t sure how to switch it to a hanging fixture. I went to Home Depot and bought their ‘conversion’ kit, not a winner. I decided to check out Lowes and they had the Can Converter, I had read about it online but didn’t order one so I’m was happy to find it in the store. The directions were crap {even Oliver couldn’t understand them} BUT they had a video online and it was very clear and easy to understand!! I had a few hiccups only because my light was from the 40's {I think} and was missing a few key pieces which I just pulled off another chandy I had laying around. I absolutely love it! The light is so soft and better than the bright overhead light in the kitchen! The Edison bulbs you can buy online or get through Home Depot.
I have plans to over-haul the playroom, it just not organized enough and it drives me batty. I knew Twilight Sprakle needed a bigger table for all her ponies so instead of buying one brand new I found a cheap coffee table on Craigslist {$30} and painted the bottom a lemon yellow and the top is chalkboard for her to draw on. Super easy to do and it’s a perfect size for her, regular tables are too large and her ‘toddler’ table is too small, maybe I should rename her Goldilocks ☺ I ordered some stools off amazon, hopefully they work.

I picked out some colors for the room, but nothing is final yet. This will have to be half nursery if I ever get knocked up so I need to keep that in mind. It’s hard for me to pull back from the pink ☺
Pretty Muddy is almost here! Vanessa from Ruffles with Love has made us a team shirt, so if you are running with us please order yours soon; she has a special rate going just for y’all. If you haven’t registered, but want to, I believe there are still slots open. We are the noon time slot and our team name is Dirty Divas. This run is for EVERYONE, we are sticking together and out to have fun so even if you haven’t trained you are more than welcome to come and join us!!
I really need to learn to do a pull up, Oliver is FOREVER challenging me to do them and I have to cheat every time. How did you learn to do one? JUST ONE that’s all I need! I can’t be having my husband beat me!
Here are my outfits for 3 straight days in a row, honestly boots and scarves to sandals and tanks?? I can’t decided what to keep in my closet, I’m afraid to pack away anything for fear of it snowing next week. My closet just isn’t big enough for summer and winter at the same time, unless of course I ‘clean’ out Oliver’s side, right now he's getting a 1/3, I'm pretty sure he could go down to 1/4. He rotates the same 5 outfits weekly and works from home 4 days a week.
Don't forget tomorrow is Workout Wednesday, come link you up your sweaty accomplishments, new moves, or goals for the week.
How cute are you?! Seriously girl!! Look at your legs in those jean capris!
ReplyDeleteI see a lot of people at the gym use a stretchy band to help them to do pull ups. You wrap it around the bars and your feet and it helps pull you up. Just do as many as you can and change out the band every week or so. Also, some people just jump up and hold it as long as they can and that helps too.
ReplyDeleteThat's also my goal. Just one pull up. I weigh 170lbs so I don't think its going to happen at that weight. I figure I've got to get down to at least 150 before its even a possibility.
I think Elle noel has a pull up helper thingy. I suck at pull ups bad. I love your DIY projects!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the light and table! So cute!! I need you to come redecorate my house! :)
ReplyDeleteMadison's table turned out great! I love it. And the picture of you and her makes me smile - we call that "hot dog tongue" in our family, and my nephew and I are the only ones who can't do it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the new table for Miss M and your new light. It is so hard getting away from the pink, but I think it will look great!
ReplyDeleteI can't do a pullup either! I was trying them out on our park's new playground equipment and totally failed.
ReplyDeleteWeather here in KC has been crazy too. I wish Mother Nature would just make up her mind already! That said, your outfits are super cute. You always look so put together!
Try to do pullups with Crossfit bands. Start with the tightest one, then work your way up to not needing one at all. I had ZERO upper body strength until I started that method.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea for that desk! Your outfits look amazing too!
ReplyDeleteI love it that you had an extra chandelier lying around :))
ReplyDeleteLoving all your outfits! Sounds about like Bama weather!
ReplyDeleteI sure do wish I had a quarter of the creativity that you have! You have such great taste and style!
Love that last shirt you have on, the chevron one, where did you find it??
ReplyDeleteLove your chevron tank top, where did you find it??

Love your outfits. They are very cute!
ReplyDeletePull-up: start by holding yourself in a pull-up position (chin above bar). After you can hold yourself there, slowly lower yourself down. You are strengthening the same muscles that will eventually be able to pull yourself up. You can do it!
ReplyDeletelove the new light fixture :) Happy you got some diy time! I can't do a pull up to save my life. Never have been able to. Eh. Who needs 'em.
ReplyDeleteeeek I usually don't get obsessed with clothing but I WANT that Chevron TANK! Where oh where did you get it!??? Love your daughter BTW....adorbs!
ReplyDeleteKaty
I've never in my life done a pull up! So annoying.
ReplyDeleteOliver is cheating!! When you do a pull up with your palms facing you (as he is) you're using your biceps to help you pull up, which is actually a chin up. The way you're doing it is the "real" way, or harder way. You're using your back muscles. So maybe you could beat him!
ReplyDeleteCute outfits! You are smokin'!
ReplyDeleteThose heels <3
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with the table. I want to do that and also a bookshelf project :)

Try doing reverse pull ups. Start at the top of the bar and lower yourself as slow as you can for as many as you can and eventually, you can rock the traditional pull up since you're conditioning those muscles
ReplyDeleteHave you started with a chin up with your palms facing you? Much easier than palms facing away. I have a pull up bar on my bathroom door and I try to do one every time I go to the bathroom! :)
ReplyDeleteThose capris are super flattering on you!
ReplyDeleteLoving Twilight Sparkle's table!! My niece calls herself Rainbow Dash! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway ! How do you link up for workout wednesday??
I am new to blogging, Ive tried and backed down a few times but I'd like to get out there and Im not sure how everything works.
Hey :) I wanted to send Brandy a little card. Could you send me her address? My address is sneekk@live.ca
ReplyDeleteI love following you both and hate teh negativity that some people bring. Why do people spend so much time making fun of someone inspiring others, and also making fun of us loyal followers? Anyway, just wanted to send her a little something to cheer her up. If not, I understand. Thanks!
You guys rock :)
Try a resistance band on the bar to do a pull up! :) I've been doing it that way to build myself up to do one without! Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteOrdered mine today! Can't wait to meet ya'll!! So excited!
ReplyDeleteThe table idea is brilliant & you can't beat the price! Cute outfits too.
ReplyDeleteYou are soooo cute! First of all I loved that pic of you and twilight sparkle with your curled tongues. Lol. CAUTE! 2nd., I have been wondering forever what that area is in your outfit pics that looks like a dressing room?? :)

The weather is nutty here in Ohio too. Somedays have been warm enough to go kayaking in my bikini and a day or too later I'm pulling on long sleeves and knee high boots. Let it be summer time already!
