Favorite Workout Tips

Good Morning! Today I'm linking up with Crafty Healthy Mommy talkin' about our favorite workout tips. I KNOW two workout posts in one week, haha, try to contain your excitement :)

1. BE CONSISTENT.
You get in what you put out, this is why I go to the gym almost daily. If I'm going to spend my time getting into shape then I wanna do it RIGHT. If you half-ass it then you are just wasting your time, hit it hard EVERY TIME.

The reason I always look happy at the gym is because I know I'm making the right choice errrrrday.

2. ENJOY YOURSELF.
Not everyone has to be a runner! I think some people believe that if you don't run you aren't really working out. There are lots of ways to get cardio in {and they don't include a nice steady pace on the elliptical}. Zumba, Turbo Kick, and Spin are some of my favorite alternatives.
For me I really don't like working out at home on a regular basis, so I had to join a gym to keep myself motivated. Bootcamps are everywhere nowadays and lots are very early in the morning if you can't do it at night. Find something you love.

3. WORKOUT YOUR SORE MUSCLES.
The best cure for soreness is to workout those same muscles the next day. I know it sounds cray, but it works, it just sucks while you are doing it :)  Drinking lots of water and stretching helps too, but a workout is the most effective.

4. WORKOUT LIKE IT'S YOUR JOB.
This is what I tell myself those first 5 minutes after jumping out of bed at 4am. It's my job to set a healthy example for my daughter, to have the energy to run around outside with her at night, to be a happier Mom for her. There is never a question 'hmmmm should I go to the gym today?" It's who I am now, end of story. You can make excuses all day, but in the end that's all you have -excuses. I stopped making them and what do I have? A 1:58 half marathon and Jillian Arms with some nice coconuts. You decide.

5. EAT WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF WORKING OUT.
If you do this it will help you burn more calories! I like a Think Thin bar or Apple and PB because they are easy to bring with me, but protein shakes are great too. You should also eat BEFORE your workout especially if you are in the 5 am club, you can't expect your body to work right after fasting all night and then not being feed before hand. I like a banana or hard boiled egg with wheat toast depending on how much cardio I am doing that day. More cardio usually means you need more carbs. Oh and my spark, duh :)

Ahhhh out of time, gotta get to my Excel class so 5's all you get this time.
I hope y'all have a great day, it's all most FRIDAYYYYY.

  4. This: "You can make excuses all day, but in the end that's all you have -excuses. I stopped making them and what do I have? A 1:58 half marathon and Jillian Arms with some nice coconuts. You decide."

    LOVE.

I never eat before working out and I really should--but I get side aches whenever I do. Do you ever get those?

  5. I've never thought about working out as my job, but I like that idea. I am so flakey about it, but if I look at it as my job, I think I wouldn't have such commitment issues. Thanks!! :)

  10. Great tips!! I don't get up at 4am to workout (I work until 11:30pm) BUT I do dress in my running clothes almost every morning, take the kids to school and then hit the trail for a few miles. What I am needing is the time to fit in more than just that too...alot of nights I stay up late to do the shred. Today I have mowing the yard and 3 miles of treadmill speedwork on the agenda as soon as the hubs gets home and I can't wait!
