Reader Questions Answered

1. My favorite go to snack?
Usually I really like apples with PB, crunchy and satisfying. I do like hummus and carrots, but burned myself out on the cleanse eating it daily ☺ I like the JIF Natural PB individual sized cups.

2. How often do I spray tan?
I have a monthly membership so I can go anytime I want, I usually go about 2x a week. Monday’s and Thursdays. I love these exfoliating gloves for prepping {scrub the shit out of yourself with a moisturizing body wash} and Body Shop Body Butter for maintaining.  I do use their ‘prep’ lotion, not sure it makes much of a difference. Yes it rubs off when I work out, but I still feel better with some color rather than none. Eek. Oh and best tip STAND ON A TOWEL so you don’t have super black feet. Kthanks.

3. How many pieces of cake did I actually eat?
3. Eff it was good. I did take off the icing, so they were skinny pieces ☺

4. What salad dressing did I use on the Advocare Cleanse?
I used the calorie free one Walden’s Farm, I like the Chipotle flavor

5. How’s the non-baby situation going?
Yeah, so it’s not. I haven’t gotten one answer from this Dr and all I’m doing is waiting around for my cycle to start every month so he can do more tests. I’m frustrated, but I’m going to give him 2 more months to fix some shit before I change Dr's. Oh and it’s kinda hard to have sexy time when I go to bed before Madison now that I work……

6. How do I feel satisfied when starting out with portion control?
I think the biggest thing that helped me was eating more often!  Knowing I could eat again in 2ish hours made me feel less deprived and it helped me never get overly hungry.

7. Was my love of chevron something I was born with?
Duh.

8. How long has the weight loss journey taken you?
Well, since this is the first time I’ve been successful I’d say around 30 years. To lose the 115 this last time- about 2.5 years.

9. What Advocare products do I use on a regular basis?
I love the Peaches and Cream Fiber Drink and the MNS Max 3 for my daily supplements. Oh and awesome juice= sparkkkkkk

10. Do I have an interest in running a full marathon?
YES. I would already be training, but thought it wasn’t a great idea while I’m battle my dang infertility. So for now it’s a goal I’m dreaming about. I would say I need at least 4 months to train.

11. How big of a support system is my family when it comes to weight loss?
They are amazing. Every single one of them has watched Madison while I ran. For a very long time that kid HATED the gym so I had to get a babysitter so I could run and they all did it. Well, it wasn’t all for me they just love being with her so it’s not like it was a hardship ☺ NO WAY could I keep up my current lifestyle without the help of my family, they rock.

12.  How did Oliver and I meet?
At a bar. I was the cute hot blond bartender and he used to come in and play pool. He totes asked me out and I said no. Then I said yes. 8 years later we got married! Haha.

13. Between cardio, weight training and healthy/clean eating, which did you focus the most on during your weight loss and what do you focus most on today?
I would say it shifted all the time. I started out focusing on controlling my portions {WW style} then I focused on running, then I became obsessed with cardio and finally realized that I need to lift weights and eat cleaner to change my shape. That’s what got me past my plateau.

14.  If you had to start all over again would you still follow WW & run or would you do more weights & follow a clean eating plan instead??
I would totes do more weights with clean eating!!! I would still run, but not every day like I used to.

15.  Did you ever have a feeling like you couldn't lose the weight? what kept you going?
I broke down crying at one WW meeting, I had lost half a pound and I just was SO FRUSTRATED at how slow my weight loss was. I felt I was trying so hard and it just was never going to happen. That was my last meeting, I decided to try something different so I quit weight watchers and did my own thing. I didn’t lose weight much faster, but I felt better just trying something new. Sometimes all you need is a change!

16.  How do you stay motivated? What do you do to break through a plateau?
I change it up, I make new goals, I try new recipes, I try new workouts. I never give up. The few plateaus I’ve delt with I’ve broken by doing the Advocare cleanse.

17.  Did you ever want to give up during your journey? How did you get back on track?
Did I ever want to give up?? No - Was I ever pissed off and frustrated? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I had no choice but to keep trying if I wanted to reach my goals though. Refocus, pick something easy you can achieve, like trying a new healthy recipe once a week or not eating out all weekend. Set small goals!

18. Do Oliver and I have a love story?
We do, but it involves some parts of my life I don’t feel comfortable sharing on the Internet. SHOCKING, I know. I have to realize that employers or ANYONE can find this blog so I don’t want to talk about things I can’t take back, ya know? Plus I am the shitty one and Oliver was my knight in shining armor and he already has a huge ego ☺

19.  My go to hair products?
I love my Aquage uplifting foam. I also love my Hana Flat Iron {tutorial on curling short hair coming soon!}

20.  Are u scared to get pregnant and get fat...only to start over again? Or at this point are u just anxious to add to your family regardless?
Absolutely I am scared. I never planned on gaining so much weight the first time, but I honestly feel I am COMPLETELY different  person {health wise} this go around, so BRING IT. I ain’t getting any younger.

21.  Do you feel like you're abandoning your family when exercising or going to the gym?
Not once. Maybe I would if I was leaving her with a random babysitter, but she’s always with family so it’s not a big deal and I never feel guilty for doing my own thing. I’m more than a Mom, just like one day she’ll be more than my daughter. It’s ok to make yourself happy, just not at the expense of someone else.

22. Are your eating habits on the weekends the same as they are throughout the week? People tell me you should give yourself a free day but I feel like when I do I just undo all my work from the week.
I agree, cheat meals really can undo all your hard work. It depends how strict you are during the week, like no cheating at all, if you can do that for 5 days then a cheat meal shouldn’t affect you too badly. I myself have good and bad weekends, there tends to be at least 2 meals eaten out and I try to pick the best I can. Do I eat fries? Sometimes, just not every weekend.  Usually I get salad with dressing on the side or some type of fish/chicken dish. My Fitness Pal is great for looking up calories at restaurants.

23. What was the outcome of my 24 Day Advocare Challenge?
There wasn’t much change after the 10 days, I will say that alcohol was consumed several of those days due to my birthday. My inches stayed the same and I still felt awesome. I continue to use the MNS Max 3 as my daily supplements, I think they give me energy and I feel more alert when I take them. I was already eating 90% clean before the cleanse and continue to now, the continuation of the 24 day is to help you stay focused on eating right and not pigging out on pizza day 11 ☺

24. Did I run/workout while breastfeeding?
Yes, I started bootcamp when Madison was 8 weeks and I nursed for 9 months. It sucked mostly because my boobies were ginormous!!!! Like for real.

25. What type of bra and jeans so I like?
Bras: I have random old ones and I will be bra shopping this weekend and posting about it so stay tuned. Jeans: I like Apt 9 from Kohl’s, they sit in a good spot on my hips, I hate low riders. No one wants to see my ass hanging out.

  7. I found your blog by accident when i started my advocare cleanse and was looking for recipes. My daughter has lost 100+pounds on advocare and swears by it. I am so hooked on your blog and scroll through my email just to see if my daily email has arrived yet! I was heart broken last week to see people actually commenting about Madison's weight. I
was a child who by "society standards" was pudgy, and at 11 was bullied so much one summer that i never left the house and this has led to a whole life of "scale watching". It sucks that our society puts these evil thoughts in our head. Anyway, just wanted you to know that you are awesome and so fun to read!! If i ever get to Texas, i am calling you since you look so fun to hang out with!!

  11. i just started running about 5 weeks ago, and today ran the majority of 6 miles (the longest Ive ever ran, woo hoo!) i know I'm going to be paying for it later, so my question is...what are the best ways to recover after a run and minimize soreness? I'd like to kick another 5 or 6 miles in the face again on Saturday :) Thanks!

  12. The biggest struggle that I have with weight loss is getting past how unfair it is that I have a slow metabolism. My roommate can eat whatever she wants, and I get so angry that I have to measure out everything I eat. It just seems so unfair.

Did you ever deal with anger like that? And how did you move past it/accept it?

  13. Happy Friday Eve! I love that! :) Can't wait to read about bra shopping. I'm big in the chest and don't think I've ever owned the perfect bra.

Thanks for the Advocare info, thinking of ordering this weekend :)

  14. I'm sure you've been asked this before, but if the fertility treatments don't work out (I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!!) would you ever consider adoption? The family I nanny for struggled with infertility for years and finally chose adoption. She said the moment the little boy was born (she was in the room watching)she KNEW it was HER son. I have been watching him for 9 years now (since hew as 6 months old!) and I feel like he is my son too! I never before would have thought I'd choose adoption before him (if I couldnt get pregnant) but now I 1million% would if it meant I could find my kid! It has been a wonderful thing adding him to the family and just because he didnt come out of Wendy doesnt mean he isnt her son.

I am currently reading Nia Vardalos book Instant Mom..it's all about her infertility and the process she took adopting her daughter, you may like it! It's a great read!

  16. So I just had to let you know that I love your blog (and you)! You are such an inspiration to me and I admire how real you are with your posts. You are a huge reason why I decided to start my own blog this past week, documenting my fitness journey of losing 50 lbs, along with my day to day life thrown in the mix! Thank you for being honest with each post...I look forward to reading you everyday! Keep up the amazing work!

  17. I usually skim through these kind of Q&A things but this was exactly what I needed today!

I'm in the beginning of my weight loss journey (again. ahem) and am discovering it's not as easy as it used to be 5+ years ago.

    Thanks for sharing =)

  18. Can you do a post or tell me about breastfeeding and working out?! I am 8 months pregnant and plan on breastfeeding. I also plan on working hard as soon as I can to lose the baby weight and train for a 5k or 10k:)
I'm a little nervous because I've read that excercising too much can affect your milk supply. I would love to hear your story and experience with this!!
