Job Updates and how I got Striking Lashes.

It feels like it's been forever since I posted, but that's probably because a million things happened over the last 3 days.

Let's start with some good news.
I got a job.

To say I'm excited is an understatement, I'm feeling incredibly blessed to have found this amazing job. I will tell you out of hundreds of resumes I sent out I had one interview.  I apparently did something right in my life for this to work out the way it did. I was having nightmares about never ever finding a job, it's rough in the job market right now!  I won't be talking about where I work on here, I need to keep some things private :) BUT I'm pretty sure the people I'm going to work with are like the nicest people ever, they have one amazing team that I'm so excited to join.
I have to get all my paperwork sent in before I get my start date and this is going to mean big changes in my schedule and gym time. More on my plan later.

Next up is something that I've been wanting to get done FOREVER.
Lash Extensions.

Striking!

Holly is Mama Laughlin's hair chick and she is AWESOME. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Like A LOT.

A few facts:
1. They last for 3ish weeks before needing a touch up.
2. They are very comfortable to wear, I forget I have them on.
3. Yes, there can be some damage to your natural lashes, but it depends on how good the person is who is putting them on.
I had lashes done for about 8 months, years ago, and they used way too much glue and it did thin my lashes, nothing permanent though. I can tell you this time around they are put on more professionally, Holly knows what she is doing.  If you want her info email me at skinnymeg@ymail.com

Now, I need your help with a decorating dilemma! I made this for my bathroom.

The picture was something I snapped on my phone and had printed {For 2 bucks!!} at Office Max {it's an engineer print}.

I just sprayed some adhesive on a piece of wood and attached, but when I hung it up I thought it looked a little plain and then I remembered the huge gold frame I bought at a flea market months ago.

It fit perfectly, I love when that happens! I just really can't decide on if I should keep the frame gold or paint it!! I kinda love the gold because it feels glam in my bath, but in certain lights it looks really yellow.
So, if you think I should paint it what color should I use?
I stood frozen in the paint aisle yesterday, I just could not decide. I guess my fear is to paint it and lose the vintage look of the frame.

That's all I got today, Happy Monday!

  4. Congrats on the job!!! I would so leave it gold. I think you can always paint it later when you want to mix things up a bit. For now it looks very classic glam!

  7. LOVE the picture. I say paint it. I need to go to Office Max and try the whole Engineer Print thing. So cheap! Does it look good, it is the image pixel-y since it's from your phone?

Your lashes are stunning, but why wouldn't they be?!?! :) I'll add that to my wish list in Dallas.

    Happy Monday!

  10. I think either a black or dark gray frame would look great with the b&w print!

  11. Yay for a new job!! Congratulations!

For the picture, try putting a pattern behind the picture. Chevron would look lovely or even just a solid pop of color. I think it will make the picture of you and Miss Madison stand out more.

  19. Congrats on the new job!!! YAY!!! Love your lashes :) I love the frame gold, but you culd always paint it a fun color (aqua always being my fave) and then distress the details of the frame a bit to let the gold come through. Just a thought :)

  20. just found you through Mama Laughlin....love your blog!

I would paint that frame something really bright....like turquoise, hot pink, red....something that will "pop" and match with the rest of the room (not sure what the room colours are)

looking forward to reading more of your blog!

  21. Love the pic. Would paint the frame red or black, depending on your decor. I love the antiquey look and I think it will still show up another color.

  26. Congrats on the new job!!

Love those lashes! I need to do that!

Love the print of you & Madison! No idea you could print something like that for $2. You could always paint the frame a different, less yellowy, shade of gold. I think a distressed, silver would be pretty too.

  27. My vote is to paint it. And I think black, it'll make the photo pop. If you like the vintage look try rubbing off some of the black paint when it's 90% dry so a tiny bit of that gold peeks through in small areas. Just a thought...

  28. That is such a fun picture! Your lashes look great!

  29. I really like the gold! But if I was going to paint it, I think I'd do something fun like turquoise (especially if you have a lot of white in your bathroom, so it would pop). Just my 2 cents!

    Coming from Mama Laughlin--new follower!

  31. Congrats on the job! love the pic, but I'd paint the frame. too blah....

  32. Hurray on the job, I'm so happy for you! And your new lashes are going to have everyone oohing and ahhing over you! They look fabulous!

What a great picture. I would definitely paint the frame to highlight the black and white print. You and your daughter are SO pretty together!

  33. I personally love the gold and it looks amazing!! But if I had to paint it any color it would be like an antique looking off white.

Those lash extensions are to die for!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I l-o-v-e your lash extensions!
I like the gold on the frame, you could always leave it like that for a while and then paint it in a couple of months. Have you thought about going a different shade of gold?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congrats on the job - personally I'd leave the frame as is!

    ReplyDelete
  36. While it has a nice glam feel, you are so amazing with your bright and bold color choices that I could also see it in some rockin' color! Can't wait to see what you decide - that is such a fun photo for the bathroom! Sweet mom/daughter moment.

  37. I would paint it white and then dry brush some color over the detail part. I would use a bright color for the dry brushing to make it really pop of the wall.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congrats on the new job! That is awesome and you are so lucky that you didn't have to go on a ton of disappointing interviews.

I like the frame gold, I think it sets off the black and white picture nicely.

  39. I think you need some gold glitter paint. It's a gorgeous pic!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Way to go girl!!! So proud of you! I hope the transition goes smoothly! I'm undecided on the frame as I can't remember what your bathroom looks like. Sorry I'm no help:(

    ReplyDelete
  41. Congrats on the jobby job! That's amazing. And speaking of amazing, I want those eyelashes!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the frame, but it needs a touch up in my opinion and I like the idea of gold for it, so why not just do a new gold paint job? Congrats on the job, I am so happy for you and your new adventure!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Paint the frame - maybe silver...and then use some sand paper to get a bit of the gold back :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think I might paint it a silver or a grey color and then use some sand paper to get some of the gold back? :)
