Painting cheers me up

I'm having a super crappy week {insert violins here} I sprained my ankle {which mean no fun soccer tournament this weekend!}, caught a cold, and woke up to a bathroom full of fire ants.  Not going to the gym for 4 days sure makes me crabby, I was NOT fun to be around!  To cheer myself up I pulled in one of the pieces out in my garage to work on.

Miss M was nice enough to 'help' clean it off for me :) I don't know why I buy that child toys, she would rather play with a cleaner bottle full of water and a dish rag!

I used Annie Sloan's chalk paint {Provence and Old White}, but I didn't distress, I'm feeling undecided about it.  What do you think?

I love how paint can make things so much prettier, it always seems to amaze me when I finish something how much better it looks!

I'm still working on Miss M's tulle table, apparently 25 yards of tulle is not enough and I had to go searching for more in the same color, but I had luck today! Hoping to finish asap so I can get it out of my foyer :)

Time to get off my booty and start dinner.....thanks to pintrest.....

Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!!

  1. OOOHhh I can see it either way. I love it like this but imagine distresssing will be nice too. Sorry I'm no help!
And tell Madison to come over to my house, she'd be more help than my teenagers!!

  2. Wow love how that turned out! Sorry about your ankle... that's such a bummer :(

  3. I've had a crappy week too and can't wait to start painting after the littles are down for bed. I love your two-toned table. I always sit with mine a few days before deciding if and how much I want to distress. Hope your ankle is better and fire ants are gone.

  4. I like the table.. and those cauliflower cakes look yummy

  5. Cute table! While I'm not crafty at all IRL, I like to think that I am (in my head). Ha! I don't know how to distress furniture, but I do think it would add more charm to the table.

M is hilarious! My kid is similar in that he is happy playing with anything in the kitchen (spoons, pans, etc.)

Your dinner looks delish! We make tilapia w/ blackening seasoning and jasmine rice and a green veggie.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Sorry to hear about your crappy week. Hope it is a better weekend for you. I love the table not distressed, but maybe some wax would give it more depth. I like how you used two colors, much better than the boring brown it was before. Now I am off to go pin that fish recipe, looks yummy!

  7. Looks great! I think distressing it would make it look even better! Hope ya get to feelin better soon! :)

  10. I think this is one of my fav pieces you have ever done..I think it looks amazing without distress but I am not a fan of most distressing..Little lady looks cute cleaning..Aubrey would help me clean anytime I ask its cute.

  11. What a HUGE difference! And your little helper is just darling :) Everything looks great distressed but I also love how clean it looks- good luck with that ;)
Thanks for sharing with us! Happy weekend! XO

  12. Love it! You can never go wrong with distressing. I like it just the way it is though.

Ethan likes to clean with a water filled spray bottle too. It drives me nuts though because he sprays all my windows!

Sorry about your sprained ankle :( I go crazy when I'm injured too.

  13. Nice when upcycling helps us feel better after a miserable week...hope this week is better for you. LOVE your re-do! It's so beautiful with the clear, crisp colours. If it were MINE, I wouldn't do a single other thing to it! Gorgeous just as it is!!
