I decided last night that I wanted to paint my foyer, it's the second to last area in my house that hasn't been painted. I'm almost free of the builder beige!
{Before}
The beige doesn't really mesh with grey in the living and dining rooms. Now, I had 2 half full cans of paint leftover from the other 2 rooms and instead of spending MORE money I just mixed them. I was a little worried because they are different undertones, but it came out fine. I also tried something I've been scard to try, STRIPES!
I think it took me about an hour to tape. I used a measuring tape and marked every 10 inches from the ceiling then used my laser level to tape it off. Sounds easy right? Not so much, next time I think I will buy the chalked line stuff.
Next I used the same grey I painted the wall with and went over the tape on the ones that would be white. I heard these will stop any bleeding.
I painted the stripes Polar White that I had left over from my hutch. At this point I was PRAYING this worked, I spent all day working on it. I was actually really scared to pull the tape off!
Also before I show you the finished wall, remember this mirror from my old living room?
I was really close to getting rid of it because I hated the color and it weighs like 800 pounds! {I've had it for years, they marked it to 20 bucks at Hob Lob on accident!} Then I was like, hmmmm, I wonder if the back comes off.....sure does! Woo Hoo!
{After}
Look how perfect those stripes are! Do you love the mirror in Aqua now? Paint changes everything!
I heart this kitty :)
I just keep staring at it! Love love love love! Everyone should totally do this, now you know it can be done. {by a novice!}
Wondering where the cute baby is?
Making a giant mess all over the house, price I'm will to pay :)
Then I caught her trying to open her lunch with a ladle.

So awesome. Love the color of the walls. Stripes are difficult but SO worth it in the end.
Poor baby has to get her own lunch...where's that momma??!! Just kidding : )
Megan that is BEAUTIFUL! Will you come and do my house...all of it?
Looks GREAT!!!! Love the color you went with! I would love to do big fat vertical stripes in our 1/2 bath but it's tight in there and the thought of trying to maneuver around the sink and toilet total turns me off. But seeing this makes me think I should just go for it!
You're like a painting superstar I have to admit! Who knew Oliver would live in a house with stenciled walls and stripes! He's come a long way due to you, baby! ha! Mom
Yay!! It looks AMAZING!
Those stripes look so good! Nicely done. :)

So when are you coming here to help me paint? I want orange stripes in my living room on one wall. LOL!!! Your posts of redoing everything have given me inspiration. I'm looking to fill in some bookshelf empty space and will be thrifting this weekend before buying spraypaint. :) XOXO
I am totally loving the stripes! And the aqua looks so wonderful! Very stylish :)
Fabulous stripes! I am itching to do some in my family room. I just need some uninterrupted time and a laser level. Your room looks fantastic.
Those are gorgeous and I am so happy I read this as I am tackling stripes this weekend. Smaller space, but stripes nonetheless! Thanks for the tips!
Wow! The stripes make the space look so modern and crisp. =]
