Addicted to Diet Coke.

So you guys know about my ongoing journey to lose the baby weight, right? Well I have reached the halfway point and it's not quite as easy as the first half. Not that it was a walk in the park by any means.  I have to make changes in different areas, like drinking water. Like A TON of water. Daily.  I loved my Diet Cokes and they are were a little treat with 0 calories! Score! Well, it turns out not so much.  I came across this and thought I would share with the other Diet Coke lovers out there.....

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. <---Yeah, that's almost EVERYONE!

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger. <-- I know this has been me!

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%. <---Wow, I wonder how much it slows down when your REALLY dehydrated?

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. <-- Wish I had known this during my cleanse, I went to bed HUNGRY every night.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. <--- Hmm I thought it was just the 6am wakeup call everyday from Miss Madison.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. <--- My back does hurt....

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.<---What about trouble for Math in 1324? I must be severely dehydrated!

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7 To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

No more soda!~ and just so you don't get depressed about it heres a cute photo to cheer you  up!
Would you like my purple egg??

  1. I hit a plateau on WW so I started just to count calories only. I went to healthyweightforum.com and put in your info and how much weight you want to lose by a particular date and it will give you the calories to intake per day. I have lost 15 more lbs since I started. Check it out! You are doing a great job mama!

  2. Wow, that's interesting Coke information.

I have friends that do weight watchers and they love it for the emotional support.

The reality is, having babies almost always changes our bodies in some way. When Miss Madison is 15 and walks in on you without your clothes on, exclaims "oh gross!" well that's your opportunity to tell her that it's all her fault (being silly, of course) All three of my girls think it was their pregnancy that ruined my perfect body, lol :)

  3. I love my diet coke but that is a little scary. I think I may rethink my love affair with diet coke, sorry diet coke.

  4. I love this post!

I used to be addicted to DC, I would drink 3-5 a day in college! Then when I started dating my husband he was an avid water drinker and never drank soda, so slowly I just stopped. My new rule is that if I really want one I have to get it out of a vending machine (which I rarely do, since vending machines are such rip offs!)

  5. I also struggle with getting enough water througout the day. It's just so boring that I have to be really thristy to drink it. My solution has been Vitamin Waters. They are a bit on the expensive side but I get cases at BJs for less than 50 cents a bottle. And the variety is great. Of course at that expense I only drink one a day but it's 20 ounces so that gets me 1/4 of the way there!

  6. Ooohh, I am a Diet Coke-aholic! I try to drink a lot of water, but could definitely drink more water and less soda :/

  7. I was highly addicted to Coke for several years. I was scolded by the doctor, I talked about drinking Coke in real life and even blogged about it enough that a blogging friend sent me a Coke bucket filled with candy. I haven't had a Coke in two weeks and I'm just amazed that I quit cold turkey. The water intake gets me too. I was very dehydrated while pregnant!

  8. She is so cute!!!

I have cut back my soda usage a lot. I use Crystal Light when I'm hungry but for the most part I enjoy super cold water with meals. However...I'll never completely let go. I need my Diet Dr. Pepper to get my morning started right. :) XOXO

  9. I quit drinking soda when I went to college.. really nowadays the only time I have soda is occasionally a root beer with pizza (best combo!!) or rarely when we go out to eat. I haaaate drinking water though! It's just so blegh. I get a lot of those powdered drink mixes that mix 2L of juice or whatever and those help but I still barely drink as much as I should. And I ALWAYS think I'm hungry when I'm just thirsty. ugh! lol

  10. Just came across your blog...your sweet girl is too precious! I am a fellow diet coke addict. For New Year's I gave it up cold turkey and only consumed water. Now I'm back to allowing myself one diet coke (or two) a day plus a ton of water. Life's too short, right? Gotta have my caffeine. Looking forward to stopping back by. I'm a new follower!

  11. wow. thanks for the PSA. Now I am always going to be super sloshy, cause I sure as heck ain't given up the soda, but apparently I really could use some more water!

  12. Meg, I am so glad I stumbled across this dated post of yours! And, now I am thoroughly disgusted with myself. I recently gave up Coke Zero, after several years of a love affair. I had so many cavities in my teeth, and my dentist kept telling me to quit drinking it - but I didn't listen. Imagine what it did to the inside of my body...eeewww, gross! I am never drinking that sh*t again!! And, by the way, I love you and your blog - you are awesome!!

Make my day and leave me a love note!
