It was a splendid day!

Excited to meet Santa.

Ummm maybe not.

Hello! Where are my presents??

Yay a fur hoodie!

Rare shot of Uncle Ben.

Aunt Katie and I.

Proof that I do cook.

No toy is too small for Aunt Katie.

Ahhhh The End.

My Rockstar Brother

It finally happened, my little brother Daniel graduated from University of Texas! We are all soooo proud of all his hardwork and I'm here to tell you it was HARD! He not only went to college, but worked a FULL TIME JOB while doing it.  He spent all his free time hitting the books so hopefully we will actually get to see him now.

Posing with his favorite girl, Miss Madison.

Daniel and his girlfirend Marissa.

My parents.

The kids! I'm the oldest on the left then Daniel, Katie (the youngest) and Benjamin.  Benjamin is starting at UTD this semester so he's next on the graduation list!

Congratulations Daniel, we LOVE you!

All about my favorite person, ME!

I was browsing along my merry way this morning, checking on the blogs I love to read and I came upon a cute holiday survey at Keeping Up with the Kellys.  Just a little peek in to my life at Christmas! Happy Reading!

Have you started your Christmas shopping? Started and finished! I don't mess around when it comes to shopping.

When do you put up your Tree? Well usually I start begging Super Husband to bring the decorations down from the attic about a week before Thanksgiving. Typically he does it the day before and we set up the day after Black Friday. This year went a little slower because of Miss Madison (yes I blame her). The boxes sat in the foyer for like a week until I just shoved some ornaments on the front of the tree (yes I skipped the back who sees it anyways?) and called it a day. I have about 5 bins full of Christmas stuff I didn't even put out.

Are you a Black Friday shopper? Heck ya!! I L.O.V.E Black Friday!! For years I worked in retail and always had to work on that day, so now that I don't anymore I'm all on top of the fun! I know, I know most people don't want to get up at 3am and stand in long lines for a little extra cash off, but for me it's not even about the sales. I love the excitement in the air, the holiday decor in the stores, and the rush of adrenaline I get when I DO score a great deal! Hellllloo Gymboree and 20% off plus 30% off and another 20% off!! It's shopping heaven for me. Plus I'm up anyways with Miss M.

Do you travel at Christmas or stay home? When I was young we always traveled to my Grandparents house in South Bend, IN, but now that we live in Texas we stay home. It's wayyyyy to expensive to fly everyone there and wayyyyy to long in the car so we haven't had a big Family Holiday in a long time and it makes me really sad. I miss seeing my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins!

What is your funniest Christmas memory? I didn't think it was funny at the time, but one year my Uncle Dennis dressed up like Santa and I remember looking at his shoes and thinking 'why is Santa wearing Uncle Denny's shoes?'. That's when I knew Santa wasn't real. Thanks Uncle Denny!!

What is your favorite Christmas movie of all time? National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Classic! We watch it like 3x during the holidays. Super Husband loves Charlie Brown Christmas, but I'm not a big fan.

Do you do your own Christmas baking, what’s your favorite treat? Not usually because I've been a really lousy cook in the past. I discovered I actually LIKE to cook when I was pregnant (maybe because I was hungry all the time?) so I've been doing it a lot more. I did make some to die for cookies the other day! If you'd like to see you can go here.

Fake or Real Tree? Fake. I don't have the time or patience for a real tree, plus they are really EXPENSIVE! Who knew?? They wanted like 200 bucks for a flocked real tree!! Come on, it going to die in like 2 weeks!!

What day (as a mom) does the actual panic set in to get it all done? This is my first year as a Mom so I really can't say, but I'm not planning on panicking because she won't even remember this year. I will just tell her it was totally awesome when she is older! I did panic about finding her a cute dress because I like nice pictures, but that's just me.

Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve? Every. Single. Year. I hate wrapping and always wait until the night before. This year my sweet Aunt is coming and she is a professional wrapper and I saved all my presents for her to do! Am I not the sweetest??

What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas? Well it used to be building forts out of all the presents with my brothers, but now that I'm all grown up it's playing card games. Last year we played Uno Attack and it's a freaking blast!!! Oh and Scrabble too!!

What Christmas craft do you like the best? I really like the wreath I made, but I really slowed down on the crafting during the holiday because I had more than my fair share of Christmas crap.

Christmas music? Love it, all of it! When I worked and had to listen to the same song over, and over, and over again I could have taken a gun to the radio! Now I control how often I hear it and it's nice to sing along to it in the car.

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate!!

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa always wraps presents! Now my Mom on the other hand will be finding gifts she "hid" in the closet up to two weeks after Christmas!

Colored lights on the tree/house or white. White, it just looks cleaner! Super Husband prefers colored, but I won that battle!

Do you hang mistletoe? Nope, but maybe I should!

What is your favorite holiday dish? My Dad's mashed potato's!!

Favorite holiday memory as a child? Going to see my Grandma, we were tight. She had 4 boys so you can imagine how excited she was that I was a girl!! I miss her so much.

Do you open a gift on Christmas eve? Yes I don't know when we started this, but we are very impatient as a family and everyone gets 1 gift to open!

How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I buy stuff I think is pretty and throw it on the tree! I would love to have "prefect" tree, but it's just not ME! I like different themes, colors, and styles so I just get what I like.

Snow. Love it? or Dread it? Well I love it, but that may be because I live in Texas and don't have to drive in it!

Can you ice skate? Not a chance, I have the weakest ankles ever.

Do you remember your favorite gift? I got a CD player when I was around 10 and I thought I was soooo cool. My Uncle Troy gave me a MeatLoaf (Bat Out of Hell) CD.

What's the most important thing about the holidays to you? Family. Just hanging out with the ones who don't come around that often and good food.

What tops your tree? A star that lights up because Super Husband thought the top of the tree looked dark compared to the rest. You have to let him win some!

Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? Giving!! I love to give someone a great present, I like to get them something they love, but wouldn't buy for themselves. I hate, hate, hate to buy for those people who don't want or need anything. It ruins the fun for me. ha. Super Husband is one of those people and to top it off his birthday is 2 days after Christmas. Blah I'll just give him a kiss and a hug!!

That darn Paula Deen!!

I had EVERY intention of making healthy cookies for the Christmas Party tomorrow. Then I saw Paula, the queen of non-healthy-add a stick of butter-food, on the Food Network making some mouth watering, can't stop thinking about, cookies! I have been dreaming about them allllll week. I should be able to indulge a LITTLE bit at Christmas, right???

Gather up my baby and went to the store and yes peanut butter, m&m's, AND chocolate chips were on the list!!

Just a little taste test, for quality control you know!

Helping Mommy get them ready to bake.

I died and went to Paula Deen cookie heaven!

Miss Madison playing with my shoe, the poor girl is always thisfreakingclosetome!!

If you too would like to cheat on your diet then go http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/monster-cookies-recipe/index.html. Blah I could hyper link it, but I still have more cookies to make before bedtime! XOXO

Ornament Topiary

* Tip! This takes wayyyyy more ornaments than you would think. 2 trips to Hob Lob and 8 bags of mini ones and 2 boxes of medium sized. I also saw somewhere you could use small garland cut up in between the balls to fill.

It's finally out...

Got my tree up! It took me a few days and I didn't use even half of all the ornaments I had because I just got tired trying to get them all out AND keeping Miss Madison away from it.

See the little spark of mischief in her eye?

My mantle is my favorite thing to decorate! I love.love.love glittered Christmas houses in fact last year I kept them out on top of my piano all year long. They are just soooo cute!!

Isn't this deer just gorg?? He is actually my hostage because I have stolen him from my Mom's house. She stole him back once, but I prevailed and he is currently the happiest deer ever on my mantle.  Come on, we even have the same eyes!!

I found some more balls for the plate display! They are cute little antique glass ornaments that I apparently bought after Christmas last year.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did, but I am sooooo ready for Christmas this year because I know it's gonna be a blast with Miss Madison.

So, maybe some of you are wondering where the heck I am! I haven't posted in over a week. Sorry!! I've been a little busy with a certain someone as you can see...

It's a FURRY? Christmas!!

There are so many great wreath to make for Christmas, but as soon as I saw this one I knew I had found the one for me!  So all you need is 1\2 yard of LONG haired white fur (Hancock Fabrics 6 bucks) a wreath (floral section of Hobby Lobby half off 3 bucks) and a glue gun.

Now the directions I saw are different than what I did, so whatever works for you, go for it!  I stood the wreath up in the middle of the fabric and hot glued it while I rolled it down the middle.

See? Next I tucked in one side then flipped it over and pulled the other side around  and hot glued it. Easy! I had NO mess to clean up- yay!

Fluff it up and you can even use some hairspray to keep it looking funky.

Now say it with me "add ya some bling!"

Done! Merry Furry Christmas to me!

Awww poor Madi took a nice hard nap while I did this! Can you see the sleep line on her face?

Easy Christmas Decor

Start with 2 (or even 3) glass plates and something to connect them.  I used a glass candle holder from Hob Lob and Gorilla Glue.  The plates were $1 each at the thrift store.

Next spray paint them your color of choice, I used silver metallic spray paint.  Make sure you don't do it at night because it might suddenly DOWN POUR on you, like it did me.

Next try to get the cutest baby ever to stop crawling under the table.

Now get ya some bling!!

Add some pink glittered ornaments (hmmm I think I need another pack....darn I will have to go back to  HomeGoods...) and your done. Easy.

I'm working on another FABULOUS Christmas item....it involves FUR! Hopefully, baby permitting, I can finish it tomorrow.

Frayed Rosettes

Fabric flowers are everywhere right now. Headbands, shirts, and necklaces are sporting them.  This is a easy, fast, and NO SEW way to make them.  I used a thin fabric I found at the thrift store, but any fabric that frays and is lightweight would work.

First, I ripped my fabric into 1 inch strips.  Vary the length to make different size flowers.

Next fold it in half and tie a knot on the end, this will be the center of the flower.

Get your hot glue gun ready and starting in the middle twist and wrap the fabric.  Tip* place the glue towards the bottom so it doesn't show!

Now you KNOW I had to add some bling because everything is better with a little glam.  I also attached a pin to the back and here is a TIP* place the pin at the top of the flower so it doesn't droop when you pin it on.

Cute?? I plan on stealing my Mom's scrap fabric and trying some other flower techniques so stay tuned!
